I don't have this transit until December 2010 but already I'm scared of it. Everything I read about it is negative. Is there anything positive about this transit? Have you been through it? Can you offer advice on surviving it?

I suffer from phobias and depression which I'm currently trying to battle and go to counselling for. I just hope this transit doesn't make them worst.

My moon is at 21 gemini, so I went through this transit a few years back. I was a teenager, but I remember what was going on, my parents started moving across the country a few times. I ended up going to 4 different schools, and turned into a real loner for a few years. My moon is conjunt my mercury, venus, and sun, so they were all being opposed at the same time, but being a social outcast gave me a really different perspective on things.

I think that you shouldn't be concerned about the transit right now. It starts December 20,2010. That's a long way off.

mainly...the transit is about transformation of your emotional world, and that's not necessarily a bad thing.
transiting Pluto in your 5th house, and so it involve creative self expression, romance, children and your Moon is in 11th,and so it involves friendships, social groups, humanitarianism, collective intellect
Moon rules your 12th house, and so it involves collective unconscious, selfless service, institutions of all kinds, fears, anxieties, karma, endings

with it being an opposition(an aspect that correlates with Libra/7th house),it can involve others, relationships as well as possible difficult things could happen like too much emotional intensity, feelings of suspiciousness, obsession, jealousy, resentment, power issues, betrayal involving women in your life, especially mother

These experiences could be very difficult for you,but they could make you stronger. What doesn't kill you can make you stronger is a Pluto thing. You could end up spiritually transformed and empowered too. It's definitely a time of getting rid of any trash in both literal and figurative sense or anything else that you need to let go of which help you heal. Somebody can be catalyst for you too. The person can confront you to face your issues. Hard Pluto aspects can be like "Dr Phil" aspects.

seeing that transiting Pluto is in 5th house and your Moon in 11th house, it's possible that there could be issues about mixing romance with friendship. There could be a possibility of a friend wanting to be a lover or vice versa or you could be you doing that. This could involve obsession, jealousy. It could also involve

another thing too..with Transiting Pluto in 5th house as the house of children involved, it's possible that you can end up in the process of having the child...especially with it opposing Moon which rules female reproductive system. There could be some issues involving the reproductive system too, and so it's a good thing to take care of yourself and not to stress.

That's the thing...the best way to handle this transit is not to stress but to stay in control of your emotions as best as you can and being honest with yourself and others. Use this time for self empowerment and dealing and resolving any issues in your life. Eliminate the bad crap.

I also gave you more information about your transits in regards to love, romance, relationships. Please let me know what you think. I would appreciate some feedback. I wanted to help.
2009 looks like a significant year for love, romance, relationships. How this manifests is up to you and the others that you interact with.

free will is the ultimate factor

Mysticr, I think it depends on what your other transits are doing at the same time as this one. I had transiting Pluto Opposed my Moon back in 2003. I was 24 yrs old at the time. This was a fabulous time for me! I was dating, going out with friends, and having a wonderful time. The only negative thing that happened at the time, was that I was cheated on for the first time by a guy I really cared about. It was very hurtful, but just 2 months later I met the man who would eventually become my husband, and was over it.

When I think back to this time, I have happy memories, and remember it to be one of the few times in my life that I truly felt free and happy. One thing to watch out for is that it magnifies the intensity of every emotion you feel. So you have to give yourself a reality check once in a while.

Happiness is SOOOOO happy, but sadness can be SOOOOOO sad. Don't let yourself get caught in negative emotions, cause you could get stuck there.

I think with Pluto and moon, you will deeply care about things SOOOO much, almost too much and with intensity. Which can be life changing. I currently have Uranus square moon, and it's doing the opposite. It can make a person distant, indifferent, and an ice queen.

Don't worry about your Pluto transit, depth in emotions is a good thing. A lot of people will go through life with never having this transit and the opportunity for this lesson.

Good luck.

Thank you Glaucus...it now doesn't sound as bad as I thought. Although, apparently this is a rare transit and do feel unfortunate that I will have to go through it. I'd rather have an eaiser time lol!

I'm naturally a very fearful person and I suffer from phobias. I''m hoping my future looks better than my past which has been really difficult. The mother thing you mentioned, I can relate to as things have been coming to a head with my Scorpion mother for a long time. I'm 30 but she would prefer it if I was still a virgin. She doesn't want me to ever have a relationship, and I haven't had many boyfriends in my time which has pleased her greatly. She hates men.

Good Grief!

That's the same problem that my exgirlfriend has!

that's why she and I aren't together!

all I can say is that you should live your life and don't care what your mom thinks because it's your life and not hers.

Maybe that's what the transiting Pluto in 5th oppose your Moon is about.

I wish you all the best!

The aspect of Pluto opposite Moon is applying to oppose in 5 degrees. In a few years or even less it will be exact. Pluto will go retrograde one or two times around that point, so it will be a long time going on.
Opposition itself will be ok. i.e when Pluto is exact opposite Moon.
What will not be the best is when you have a full/new moon opposite/square your Moon. It adds extra stress to it.
There will be a new Moon in Capricorn December/January time. April for the square and Septemeber for the square too.
This will be for the next few years.

Moon rules your 12th which can be long term illness, as you mentioned.

My advice: dont make a drama out of it and dont think about it. Step outside yourself and look at yourself on a long journey. Whatever happens is what makes you into whatever you eventually become.
Mental illness can be a sign that something is not right within the soul, which needs fixing. Counselling will help.
If you worry, it will be worse.

On a hunch, I checked to see if you have Ceres in a challenging close aspect to your chart which could indicate issues with mother as in problems letting go go children to live their own life, empty nest syndrome.

In mythology, Ceres/Demeter had a daughter named Proserpina/Persephone who was kidnapped by Hades/Pluto to be his consort in the Underworld. Ceres was in grief over losing her daughter, and so the Earth suffered because she was the Goddess of the Harvest. She ended up getting her daughter back but not permanently. Proserpina/Persephone ate some pomegranate seeds. Proserpina/Persephone had split time between her mother and Pluto. So when Proserpina/Persephone was with Ceres/Demeter, the Earth had Spring and Summer. When Proserpina was with Pluto/Hades,it had Fall and Winter.

the theme was the mother having a hard time letting go of the daughter, the empty nest syndrome...also girl becoming a woman....you could say it also be losing one's virginity.

I always thought Ceres was another indicator for mother in the chart. Ceres is the asteroid of nurturing, and it does seem to strongly have to do with maternal matters.

Your Ceres is in 17'11 Capricorn in 6th
conjunct Geocentric South Saturn Node in 17'53 Capricorn
conjunct Geocentric South Pluto Node in 18'20 Capricorn
squares your Pluto in 17'03 Libra in 3rd
squares your Eros in 17'28 Libra in 3rd
this seems to indicate difficulties with mother due to problems of letting go of you to live your life(Ceres) and have a love life(Eros),relationships(Libra)...power issues(Pluto) with her that involve past(South) associations, connections(Node) that involve discipline, structure(Saturn) and intensity, transformation(Pluto)

That also means that Ceres squares the dispositor(Pluto) of your conjunction of retrograde ruler Venus and Mars in Scorpio in 4th and the conjunction of your 7th house ruler Uranus and Mercury. That would indicate friction between your mother and your love/sexlife,relationships

I also pointed out earlier when I first did your chart in the other thread about interecepted Scorpio in 4th house be problems with intimacy in connection with domestic environment/past.

I couldn't help noticing that your Eris is in 14'02 Aries 9th house, and this seems to be a placement of diversity, ideology in areas of long journeys(both mental, physical),and it opposes your Pluto in 3rd house and so it can involve power issues in communications, and Ceres squares that and so mother can be in conflict with this. I think that this configuration could indicate that if you are involved with somebody of a different culture, your mother would disapprove. This t-square seems to indicate equality issues too. This could be like your mother can't share you with others. Eris actually has a Persephone-like orbit, for part of the time it orbits away from Pluto. The discoverer of Eris wanted to name it Persephone, but the name was already given to an asteroid. It was also Eris' discovery that led to Pluto and Ceres equals in Astronomy which mirrors how Hades/Pluto and Demeter/Ceres shared equal amount of time Persephone/Proserpina.

On a hunch, I checked to see if you have prominent Persephone or Proserpina

Proserpina in 29'45 Libra
conjunct Sun in 28'12 Libra
conjunct/oppose Heliocentric Chiron Nodes in 29'05 Libra/Aries
square Juno in 27'36 Capricorn
square Geocentric South Saturn Node in
- well..You definitely have a prominent Proserpina with your Sun being conjunct Proserpina..this indicates that mother/daughter issues(Proserpina) are central to your life(Sun) and affect your relationships(Juno,Libra) with men(Sun) and that they involve assocations, connections(Nodes) with woundedness, healing(Chiron) and past(South) associations with discipline, structure(Saturn) in ntu

Persephone in 15'07 Taurus Retrograde
oppose 7th house ruler Uranus in 15'34 Scorpio in 4th
oppose Mercury in 12'03 Scorpio
square Ascendant in 12'34 Leo
- this indicates that mother and daughter issues(Persephone) are at odds with independence(Uranus) connected to partnerships(7th house ruler) and communications (Mercury),and that they are in friction(square) with you(ascendant)

Demeter in 18'30 Sagittarius in 5th
conjunct Neptune in 16'20 Sagittarius in 5th
- this indicates that mother(Demeter)can be a idealistic,dissolving

There is a very strong mother/daughter empty nest theme reflected by the Ceres,Demeter,Proserpina, and Persephone aspects. This gives you a choice to live your life or live your life the way your mom wants you to. Your Uranus square Ascendant is very independent, and will definitely break free and rebel sooner or later. It sextiles your Ceres too, and so there is a possibility to have nurturing and independence to work well together.

I had this transit last year and i had some major power struggles with my mum. I moved home and i had a very bad relationship with my mum. At the end of the transit i moved overseas because of my mum. My anxiety started at the beginning of this transit but i had to close to my IC also so it effected me more.
Every time the transit was exact my mum kicked me out of home. She has always done this but during the transit she was heaps worse. Other than that it was just mainly power struggles nything to do with home and my mum.

Glaucus...you're bang on, my mother doesn't want to share me, she wants to rule my life. At the weekends, sometimes she'll call me up to three times a day demanding to know what I've been up to despite me having left home 10 years ago! And all she does is complain and laugh about other people's problems.

My mother suffers from depression herself and is intensely bitter because life didn't work out the way she wanted it to. She bullies me, and calls me a "selfish b**ch" all the time. I'm in counselling at the moment and a lot of the issues I raise concern my mother and her not being able to let go of me. I do love her dearly but she's very spiteful and vindictive.

God knows how she'll feel if I get married one day!

Transiting Pluto oppose your Moon actually starts much sooner.

using a 3 degree orb for opposition transit

it starts on Feb 22, 2009
then Pluto goes retrograde on May 16, 2009 for a separation
it starts again on Dec 19,2009
then Pluto goes retrograde on Aug 27, 2010 for a separation
it starts again on Sept 30,2010
it's exact on Jan 15,2011
then it goes retrograde on April 9,2011 and starts again
its exact on July 11,2011
then it goes direct on Sept 16,2011 and starts again
its exact on Nov 18, 2011
then it goes stationary retrograde on April 10,2012 to start again
then goes stationary direct on Sept 17, 2012
after that, should be the end of the transit

When Pluto gets to 23 Cap it will be squaring my Moon

I'm more worried about something happening to my mom, more than anything.

GLAUCUS: I find it so interesting what you've mentioned about ERIS in this thread and in a few others before. Maybe, if you find the time, you want to add something to a thread of mine ... Eris is in question at the end of this thread, see the last 3-5 posts, if you have a minute to spare, maybe:
http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/019939.html

MISTICR: I can only add two small thoughts: I went through tPluto cj my Moon for a handful of years - stressful times, but Pluto fuelled my sense of self immensely - and I came out of this stronger than ever. (My Moon is in late Saggitarius, so Pluto's visit is not too long ago.)

Concerning tPluto opposing a natal Moon: A very close, very dear male friend has been expriencing this for a while now, and it will linger on for him ... He got very disappointed in love and parenthood - he married a woman when that transit started - she got pregnant shortly after that - and he thought that the kid was his son - loved the child madly. Soon after the child's birth it turned out that she betrayed him, lovewise and moneywise. He filed for divorce, they split-up - and finally he found out: This kid is not even his son! But comes from a different man! So ... my friend got hurt badly - and currently is recovering from this immense disappointment. He misses "his son" (who is 2 years old now - and never HAS been his son, biologically). Just recently he told me on the phone, that he might never see that kid again ... and that it broke his heart. He also spoke a lot about his deep inner need to be a father (my friend just turned 40 years old). So - for him, this was/is a hurtful experience - and it brought out all his parental qualities. In fact, he is re-considering his lifestyle now - and is quite sure, that indeed he wants to have a family of his own - something he had entered only half-heartedly before ...

Maybe this is a (drastic) example on how this opposition could work out. It just awakens strong emotions inside of a person - makes them more "real" though ...?

All the best to you!

well i was only about 6 at the time, but pluto opposed my moon (and conjuncted mercury) with little to no effect i can remember. and i have a VERY good memory! though i think my mother was having some emotional struggles re my dad, and we had a dog who disappeared into the woods at hunting season (name of Miss Moon as it happens!).

DO NOT FEAR TRANSITS!!. pluto will often pick you up and put you where you need to be and if you are RESISTING the necessary transformations it can be painful but it doesn't have to be!!

that said i and some astrologers i have read believe that pluto transits can be felt for up to 2 years BEFORE the actual hit, so i wouldn't be surprised if you are already getting at least a "whiff" of what will be the issues!

pluto squared the moon at the time my mom died. this was actually a blessing/ relief for all concerned, including herself. she had been ill for 8 years - and SHE decided it was time and let go...

I have the moon in the 9th house had this transit when I left home to study at university. It was traumatic to leave home and all my friends and have to make new friends. I think my mum found it quite difficult too.
Also as a result of moving away I broke up with my boyfriend from home.
I found the first year of university quite difficult - too much partying to try to fit in alongside finding the studying really difficult, and I ended up having panic attacks.
Then when pluto went opposite the moon again after retrograding my grandmother died. She had had dementia so it was expected and had been cared for at home by my mum for about 10 years before she died.
So it was quite difficult, and emotionally traumatic for my mum rather than dangerous.
