So I have supposedly been in a uranus square ASC transit for more than a year. Uranus has made 2 passes at my ASC. Well, I am here to report there has been no effect on my life. I am in saturn, neptune and jupiter transits which are very obviously felt on my mars, venus and sun. I have dealt with a series of situations which definitely prodded a need for re-strategizing and restructuring in my pursuit of various relationships and job opptys (saturn currently transiting by square my mars and trine my venus).

My point here is that transits to the ASC are meaningless. The significance given to the ASC and similar calculated points (MC, DSC) seriously undermines astrology's credibility. The most that can be said of these points is that they are energy centers which if aspected by planets by CONJUNCTION only - have increased significance in a chart. When transited, these points will have greater impact in a particular area than in another chart where they were unaspected. This is bec there is a bona-fide planet at that point. When there is no planet, they are little more than hypothetical points which show some significance when aspected in synastry by nodal contacts or personal planets again - by CONJUNCTION only.

I think the ASC became popular in astrology bec it was the mythical 3rd point which most people did not know about which was said to account for what the sun amd moon did not account for. It was a way of being a step ahead of the skeptics. Most people know what day they are born and the sign of their month but do not know their birth time offhand. If they dont fit into their sun sign, which is often the case - character traits can be attributed to their ASC. But this is bad astrology. Very bad astrology. Aspects of personality always had much less to do with signs and MUCH more to do with aspects. The sun in opposition to saturn for instance will make any leo much less leo-esque. Overemphasis of the ASC was a way of overattributing traits which were unaccounted for by amateur astrologers. It is overly simplistic and basically utter bogus in almost all cases. The exception being when it is aspected by a planet.

I have to completely disagree. From personal experience I can say without a doubt that transits (in hard aspect - conjunction, opposition and square) to my ASC are and have been some of the most powerful transits of all.

I definitely felt Pluto and Saturn transiting my ascendant. I was just a kid at the time, and was amazed (as an adult) when I learned about astrological transits, and lined them up with certain times in my life.

My chart:

*edit. Oops. I have Uranus, Mars, Moon and Venus aspecting my ascendant in various ways.

What time period do you attribute events to pluto and saturn transits?

Your chart as example does not negate my point bec you have uranus just about exactly conjunct your ASC. If a planet is conjunct the ASC or the MC, it becomes energized and its effect will be magnified. It will make an outer planet act more like a personal planet. Transits to it will be more significant.

what Tigerlily wrote ..

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have to completely disagree. From personal experience I can say without a doubt that transits (in hard aspect - conjunction, opposition and square) to my ASC are and have been some of the most powerful transits of all.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

from experience .. i'm of the very same opinion ..

~ bucketrider ~ .. maybe your Asc calculation is off ..
you don't 'feel' it when t.Mars is square your Asc ?? for example ..

there are also tons of 'situation' posts 'n associated charts on this forum .. that would tell a different story ..
( i would not use someone's thread post and chart as an example without their permission ..
( but i've been tempted many a time in view of a possible astrology lesson .. just wouldn't be fair though

in fact there's one fine example on the boards at the moment ..
someone who has Uranus opposing their Asc and Saturn conjoining the same ..
( so take out the 'conjunction' .. be still the 'opposition' to consider )
and .. posts by the same person .. when they had a major transit to their Mc/Ic ..
a recent 'frustration' post by same .. was at the same time as the moon conjoined their Mc ..
( ok .. it's a conjunction )

anyhow .. as far as a double check on this .. i've got to wait till next may for Mars to square my Asc ..
( it wiil oppose and trine my Asc before that )

~~~~~~~~~~~
i've just run through all the possible 'major' transiting aspects to my Asc ..
and they all include additional 'minor' aspects ..
( the sextile includes a square to my n.node ) ..
so what am i picking up on 'feeling' wise ( and reacting to ) when i get a transit to my Asc
the major or minor aspects .. ? ( apart from the conjunctions )
hhhmmm .. Venus (my Sun ruler ) be opposite Asc. today ..
yeah .. given what transpired today .. well more to the point .. my reaction ..
would possibly fit in with a venus - opposition ..
( but i feel mars transits much much more than any venus 'harsh' transit )
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

( edited to add ) .. i've also got t.Mars opposing natal Jupiter at the moment ..

the main thing on my mind today .. triggered by a possible 'theft' incident ..
( either on purpose or by an accidental switch .. have yet to find out )
has been ' my finances' and 'other people'

I have double and triple checked my birth time with people who were there as well as my birth certificate. I was born in a major hospital. There has been absolutely no uranus effect. I have been through uranus conj sun, conj venus, conj merc, square mars and square moon. I know what uranus is like and it has not happened. Not remotely.

As I said, many people have planets on their ASC which makes it "active" so to speak and when transited, will respond more energetically, given its prominence. My point is that points which are not planets do not respond to transits. Think of them as highlights. They are feminine. They receive, they dont trigger events.

I think people attribute things to their ASC which are more accurately attributable to other things. For instance, someone with a sag ASC who also has merc opposition jupiter will tend to see their sag traits in light of their ASC sign instead of the merc opp jupiter aspect - which in my experience is orders of magnitude more significant. There is alot of redundancy in the current astrological system which makes determining an accurate cause and effect impossible to determine. I am lucky bec my ASC has no planet on it and therefore I can see clearly what it responds to and what it doesnt. This uranus transit has been a great test. Two passes and no event. No feeling. No vibe. Nothing uranus-esque.

I would not rely on someone's post of their experience with a transit to their ASC. I would ask for the birthday and the time of the event in question and see what else was going on astrologically.

hhhhmmmmm ...

i got to thinking your header post be a manifestation of Uranus on the Asc .. ;-))
awakening the astrology community with rebel theories ..
throwing a large spanner at the zodiac ..

any chance of a look at your chart ?

i'm going to review my own Uranus past transits to Asc and Mc ..
( 'xcept those minor aspects will no doubt feature ..
( and some of them .. going by observing Mars transits this year and some of last year
( well .. a couple seem to wind-me-up much more than the 'major' transits aspects

this needs some thought ..
( gotta hit the sack .. be 2.am now )

In September 1977, I was placed in special education with the mentally retarded because my Dyslexia,Dyspraxia were misunderstood.for mental retardation. It was common for many children with learning disabilities and of African American descent to be misplaced like that.

Transiting Neptune in 4th was squaring my Virgo Ascendant when I started special education that year. confusion,deception,hard to pin down

On October 26, 1974. My mother was shot,and I was with her at the time. A schizophrenic broke into our home while we were watching television.

Transiting Mars-Uranus-retrograde Mercury conjunction was semisquaring my Ascendant on that night. surprising violence

I have no planets conjunct and square my Ascendant, but

My Ascendant in 13'26 Virgo
squares my Mars/Pluto midpoint in 13'22 Sagittarius in 4th
squares my Helio Uranus Nodes in 13'51 Gemini/Sagittarius in 10th/4th
semisquare/sesquiquadrate my Chiron Nodes in 28'98 Libra/Aries in 2nd/8th - '32

that means transiting Neptune was conjuncting my Mars/Pluto midpoint and South Uranus Node in 4th, and in 8th harmonic aspects to the Chiron Nodes in 2nd/8th when I was placed in special education

thant means transiting Mars-Uranus-retrograde Mercury was conjuncting my helio North Chiron Node in 2nd/oppose my South Chiron in 8th,in 8th harmonic aspect to my heliocentric Uranus Nodes and Mars/Pluto midpoint in 4th on the night that schizophrenic broke into our home and shot my mom.

Cosmobiologists do believe that midpoints are important and that they do figure into events..especially if the midpoint aspects a point,planet

Ascendant square Mars/Pluto midpoint is viewed as personal violence,violence in the environment.....so it was triggered by Uranus transit...so the unexpected violence

Astrologers that use planetary nodes believe that they respond to transits,especially if they are aspected to points,planets.

my Ascendant squares South Uranus Nodes indicating the unexpected,unconventional effects my personality,environment

my Ascendant semisquare/sesquiquadrate Chiron Nodes indicate wounded,healing effects my personality,environment

Cosmobiologists believe that conjunctions,oppositions,squares,semisquares,sesquiquadrates are the the event-oriented aspects and that they are the only aspects that work with midpoints.

bucketrider, uranus transits frequently are SEED transits, ie the change actually happens LATER. plus with all that other stuff going on you maybe are not able to pinpoint it! i KNOW my asc is a major "transit station" for lifechanges...

Actually, I can partly agree. If I compare the transits of slow moving planets to my Sun, Moon and ASC, the transits to ASC were always the weakest in their effect.

Whats a SEED transit?

Its a nice idea but astrology doesn't work that way. When saturn is transiting my sun or moon. I don't have to guess at its effect. Same for every other outer planet. Why do I have to guess at the ASC's effect? Could it be because it is not having any effect?
I think so.

I implore everyone here, when interpeting astrological transits and such to stick to the KISS principle. Keep it simple, stupid. By overinterpreting everything, you end up with nothing and the system becomes ridiculous. Go with what is abundantly obvious. Stay away from calculated points. (The nodes would be an exception - especially in synastry).

Ill say it again - the ASC does not respond to transits unless it is conjunct a planet.
