Can someone interpret this for me? What I read so far, been very dissapointing. Seems sad. Is it really about death? Wouldn't it just mean about intimacy?IP: Logged |

I have this ~ Mercury rules my 8th and is in the 7th in Taurus. I take care of the 8th house matters ~ family finances, tax forms, insurance, pensions, paperwork of all kinds. That could be one way this placement works out. If a committed relationship lasts long term, someone is going to go first. It's not something worth sitting around worrying about when you could be enjoying your time together. The 8th is also traditionally the placement for marital intimacy like you suggest. I think an 8th in the 7th person would less likely than most to be happy to accept a situation where they stick with their long-term partner because they are happy together although this part of their relationships has faded. this is cafeastrology take on itRuler of the Eighth House is in the Seventh House Sorrow in connection with the affections. Illness or loss of a loved one. My relationships have been deep and loving but grow turbulent and tend to break down. atleast so far.. but I have only been in two. They also seem to be very sexual. My 8th ruler is Aries and Mars is in the 7th
do they have other interps anywhere? IP: Logged |

Can I point out here that the 7th is the house of marriage, not romantic relationships. That's the 5th. When we make observations about our personal relationships in connection to the 7th hosue we should really be talking about our marriages and/or relationships that involve living with someone as if we were married to them but skipped the paperwork. In a short-term romance I would expect things to be deeply sexual, what happens 20 years down the line with the same person is more the situation I was referring to above. IP: Logged |

Blue Moon, what does the placement of the 7th house ruler say about marriage? Is it how you meet the person? Or does it talk about something else? My 7th house ruler is in the 6th house and I met my ex-hubby through work. Would it be something like that?IP: Logged |

Hi ErickaF. If your worried about the ruler of the 8th in 7th indicating death of a spouse, it takes more than just that. It would be more likely if the ruler is conjunct the descendant or badly aspected. Even then it depends on the planets doing the aspecting. It also depends on the signs involved. Earth signs, or scorpio being the "worst" when involved.IP: Logged |

I have this too as well as the other way around---->>> ruler of the 7th in the 8th. Its my sun in the 7th and my moon in the 8th (Cancer DC/ Leonine 8th house). I got a good interpretation of this by an astrologer a while back (and it had nothing to do with death). I would bump it up but I have to see if the search function works first. Honestly though, I don't think this might fully apply to us until we're in a marriage or business partnership.*shrugs* IP: Logged |

I have Pluto in Libra while my 8th house is Scorpio. My 7th house technically begins in Virgo but a huge part of it( 95%) is in Libra. Not married yet( had my birthday on the 22nd of Nov) and am hoping this year with the Pluto move brings some good news re. love.

Amowls, don't worry about that. It may be, it may not be. If you marry someone a lot older than you, then you will know that realistically it stands a chance. That's just a statistical probability, not a prophecy. The 8th is the Scorpionic house and all the discussions on it on LL leads me to the thought that the ruler of the 8th in the 7th could mean a closeness and understanding with the marriage partner. MyVirgoMask, I've got some info on the 7th ruler in the houses, I'll put it up when I get time. But I think your conclusion here is a good one. IP: Logged |

Janis Huntley describes the ruler of the empty 8th in the 7th as being a placement of no half measures: quote: the subject strongly desires a deep, permanent relationship which is founded very much upon sexual proclivity, but which is also highly communicative and united in all areas of life....
I can strongly identify with this ~ and is certainly true in my experience. It's the Scorpionic house, it makes sense. If the 8th on a natal isn't all about death, why should that be any more the case in synastry? Think of all the comments on LL about planets in the 8th house and why this interpretation by Janis Huntley makes such sense. IP: Logged |

blue moon. yea thats more like it.I can relate heavily to that one. the sex and especially the united in all areas and like an intense soulmate connection. especially considering I have pluto in scorpio in the second so both mars and pluto in dignity in the venusian houses i think makes this very powerful in my case.. they are biquintile. but I feel it would be doubly powerful if they were quincunx. This interpretation is from the book "The New A to Z Horoscope Maker and Delineator by George Llewellyn"The Ruler of the Eighth House When posited in the 7th House: A rich partner or one to whom money comes unexpectedly. Affliction: death of partner and public enemies. Danger of death by violence, suicide, accident, or war. Hope that helps.

this is what i've been told by professional astrologers around here. using modern rulerships, Pluto rules my 8th in Scorpio from 7th house, also in Scorpio, conjuncting Venus which opposes 2nd house Jupiter. My 8th is mostly in Sagittarius and there's a sun there so that , and Juno conjunct south node might be all indicators. IP: Logged |
