Ive got asteroids Iris and Moira exactly conj my Sun, what are they supposed to mean?

In mythology, Iris represents rainbow and the messenger of gods and Moira represents fate; it's a bit vague definition if we speak about their influence on such a personal planet as Sun; do you have any ideas about how their meaning can be interpreted on a more mundane level?

Hi Peri,
You must check the Sabian Symbol of the sun as well. The major influence will be as if your personality is destined to be a positive sign for conveying good news to others. Iris could also represent the 7 colours of the Chakras.

Iris...being a messenger is about right. It could be a communications indicator.
In my own chart,I have Iris in Scorpio in 3rd sextile my Virgo Ascendant with 12 minutes of arc.

It could also be used in regards to the eyes. Iris is a part of the eye too.

according to ASTROLOGY ENCYCLOPEDIA which has a lot of information on asteroids and their meanings,

In an astrological chart, Moira's location by sign and house indicates an area of life that is governed by "fate" or karma. When afflicted by inharmonious aspects, Moira may show "negative karma" When prominent in a chart, it shows an individual whose whole life is "fated."

I have Venus in Scorpio in 3rd square Moira in Aquarius in 6th with 17 minutes of arc, and yeah....I believe that I have negative karma involving love, relationships.

You guys got me curious about Moira, I haven't checked it before. It conjuncts my DC to the very minute. I knew my relationships were "fated" but every confirmation counts!

Ah thanks for two new asteroids.

Moira is exactly on my Siva on 15° Scorpio, trines Juno on 17° Pisces and Saturn on 17° Cancer. lol

Peri,

those asteroids on the IC seem to be pretty important, very close to your soul`s core.
Or did you experience fated situations relating to family, home or emotional development?

Definitely, Peri, my friend has Sun in 4th house, and she is so deeply embedded in her family and feels such a high responsibility for them that it even interferes with her life at times.
She`s also ultra-sensitive, even though it may not be that obvious on the first glance.

Well to add what I can find: any planet conjunct the Sun with an orb of 17 minutes or less, is considered to be cazimi (an Arabic word) and interpreted as "in the heart of the Sun" which is an extremely strong accidental dignity. If your conjuncts are within that orb, your life will be strongly colored by those asteroids theme.

My sun is conjunct asteroid Orcus but by 27 minutes orb (phew!). Orcus is said to be very much a second Pluto.

actually, Orcus isn't an asteroid. It's a kuiper belt object, and it's classed as a plutino because it's orbit is like Pluto's in regards to 2:3 resonance with Neptune which means for every time Neptunes 3 times orbit around the Sun,Pluto and the plutinos orbit twice around the Sun.

the term, asteroid is reserved for bodies that are more inner.

planets that orbit beyond Neptune are called kuiper belt objects.

kuiper belt objects are icy objects unlike asteroids which are rocky

but yeah...Orcus is similar to Pluto.

I have Sun triseptile Orcus with 1 minute of arc and Sun contraparallel Orcus with 1 minute of arc. It also trines my Venus with 40 minutes of arc.

I do have Sun conjunct Ixion with 5 minutes of arc, and so I have a cazimi with a kuiper belt plutino.

but yeah...kuiper belt objects are no joke

here is some info on them http://www.philipsedgwick.com/

here is some stuff on Orcus too

Asteroid 90482, Orcus, a trans-Neptunian object, was discovered on February 17, 2004 by Chad Trujillo, Michael Brown and David Rabinowitz at Palomar Observatory near Pauma Valley, California. 2004 DW has a period of 248 years, 4 days.

Orcus was named for the Roman god of death, whom the Greeks called Thanatos and who is sometimes identified with Pluto.

Astrologically, Orcus seems to indicate the following: popularity, populism, private effort, the grass roots (according to Jonathan Dunn); bringing death (according to Chryss Alexander); also, audacity, boldness, "seizing the day," questioning or challenging, dissent, predatory, ravaging, corruption, a fallen state, heavy or strong retaliation, having something to say, giving up or giving in.

My Iris is on the same degree as Part of Fortune.

The Sabian is:
Workmen Drilling For Oil

Can someone help me interpret that, please?

Thanks.

Which asteroids or even sign degrees indicate destiny or life purpose or mission?

I think Destinn is an obvious one. Which is conjunct my Mars, two degrees. Sun is conjunct Ascendant, which I would also factor. Ascendant is conjunct Chiron (1 degree in 12th house) and Ascendant is also directly opposite Uranus. They feel significant to me. I just can't collate the information. Maybe I just haven't got all the pieces yet. Psyche is also conjunct Sun. Merlin conjunct MC, Galahad conjunct NN, Excalibur conjunct IC - exact degrees. Celestia, Sirene, Stellaris, Pan and Incidentia conjunct (all within 2 degrees) NN. I consider NN to be the most significant part of the chart, which is in Pisces 12th house.

Granted, it's a small sample so far, but I think it's interesting how so many of us here have narrow aspects with Moira and other fate-related asteroids.

I'm interested in what makes some people curious about metaphysics, while others have no interest. Now I'm wondering if people interested in spirituality have, overall, more "fated" aspects in their natal chart than those who are skeptical about a spiritual component to life. A chart with a strong "fate" signature may make someone feel more linked with spirit, and more inclined to see life events as the material expression of spirit. If I were to do an astrology research project it would be that, a comparison of the charts of spiritual and materialist people. I would expect the spiritual people to have more narrow aspects with the nodes, vertex, fate-related asteroids, and Neptune. Meh, I'll just skip the research and assume my hypothesis is correct.

Conjunct at the same degree, I have:

Sun
Cupid
Moira

The Sabian for that degree is "an Easter sunrise." Rudhyar considered "Rebirth" its keyword.

My anti-vertex and DNA are conjunct those as well, but not at the same degree.

So identity [Sun + DNA] linked with fate [anti-vertex + Moira] and love [Cupid], and the theme is "rebirth." I have a feel for what it means for me, but it'll take some coffee before I can express it in words.

Izo! Your sporadic appearances never fail to ignite a thundering pitter-patter within my ribcage.

I suppose a "nice to see you" would've sufficed?

ETA, when properly caffeinated: Can a pitter-patter be thunderous?

PA -

quote:
My Iris is on the same degree as Part of Fortune.
The Sabian is:
Workmen Drilling For Oil

Ignoring Isis for the time being, I'd see your PoF on that Sabian as showing that you carry within you valuable gifts (signified by the oil) and that with work (the workmen drilling), you can tap into much internal wealth.

The oil isn't an easy discovery, but something you seek and work to obtain.

I'd see this Sabian as showing that you'll have the best luck and fulfill your destiny when you focus on something's process (the work). As long as you love what you're doing, you will be rewarded.

So what about Isis on top of that? With Isis representing messenger, then perhaps your fortune is in sharing what you've uncovered during your process of self-discovery and self-value? Er, does that make any sense? I'll try to come back here and make more sense after ingesting some caffeine.

ETA: Does Iris mind if I repeatedly call her by another woman's name?

My Iris is on 27°40 Libra and exactly conjunct Adonis and also conjuncts Union.
Sabian:
A MAN BECOMING AWARE OF SPIRITUAL FORCES SURROUNDING AND ASSISTING HIM

Moira is on 14°08 Scorpion exactly conjunct Siva, and also squares Moon, trines Saturn and trines Juno and opposes my own name asteroid.

Sabian
CHILDREN PLAYING AROUND FIVE MOUNDS OF SANDS

- I have no idea though, what that Sabian is about.

29deg Cancer: A Daughter of The American Revolution

The asteroid Aphrodite is also conjunct my Sun by 1º. And Orcus too! (Conjunct Venus) -
