In general usually the Ascendant is the first impression we make on others, and the Sun sign is what comes out when we get know people better - and this applies to most of the people around me. I have a great example:- A previous boyfriend with Pisces Sun and Leo Asc who always was the center of attention when he entered a room. He loved being the strong happy and fun Leo that he did so well in social events and among friends, and I loved being right beside him, under his powerful protection. What very few people ever saw was the sensitive melancholic Pisces that I got to see when we were alone just the two of us. The Pisces that wanted to be left alone once in a while, the one that wasn't always chipper and in charge of everything. He hid his Pisces soul so well that most of the people around us never knew anyone else but the Leo. For me though, I wonder if it's the other way around and if more people feels like this? I have a Pisces Sun and a Gemini Asc, and I'm always quiet and reserved among new people, keeping a distance for a long time. It takes time to get close to me. But, when you have penetrated the shell I'm very much like a Gem. I talk a lot, I talk fast, I'm playful and I like mingling around all over the place - but I only do this with my family and close friends that I feel safe with. I just wish I could show more of my Gemini sides and not be so quiet with new people. I like to believe that my close friends get to see the "real" me, but that raises another question - which part of me is the "real/inner" me, my core? My Pisces Sun should be the "real" me but it doesn't feel like it's an INNER and OUTER part like that, I don't feel like an onion! I feel like... I don't know, I need a new kind of symbolism for this... any ideas? So, what do you think determines what sides of us comes out among people we don't know vs in close relations? ------------------ Ascendant: Gemini Sun: Pisces Moon: Capricorn Mercury: Pisces Venus: Capricorn Mars: Aquarius IP: Logged |

im a leo sun and leo asc, a girl has never asked if i was a leo, iv been asked if i was a gemini, and one girl said "your not being very leo" (this was a little while later at a party after asking when my birthday was earlyer) lol.my main aspects to my asc[leo] are - asc trine moon [ aries], and pluto [scorpio] square asc [leo] my saturn[capricorn] is in my 5th house, and is part of my grand square, so i think that lids my impact, but i still have some kind of magnetism when i walk into places (iv noticed, i actually don't like it, it feels a bit intense!), i think my scorpio pluto makes me a little intense, and after all that, i think my virgo mercury comes out more, my venus libra is there, but its also part of a grand square, with pure hard aspects. my mars virgo doesn't help (not direct around meeting others) i think your asc is the initial mask, but i think it also depends what aspects your asc, i also think the placements of ur mercury /venus/& mars makes a difference. if i had firey mars or more direct mars, i could be more open, or direct. My Sun and Ascendant are conjunct in Aries. What you see is what you get. I'm the same all the time.IP: Logged |

I go for the sign on the outside as the outer bit, what the ASC is known for. Then go for the sign the ASC ruler is in as the inner bit, rather than the Sun.Aquarius rising with Uranus in Scorpio. The Aquarius bit when 1st getting to know me or even in social situations, but more Scorpio after time spent. IP: Logged |

I'm a fairly quiet Gemini Rising, too (Capricorn Sun). I think it might be helpful to know that Gemini can be seen as a shy sign. It isn't always known as overly talkative. Also, between Mutable signs (Pisces and Gemini) it would be easy to see traits of one (Gemini) as traits of the other (Pisces).IP: Logged |

I'm a Gemini ASC (Aqua Sun, with Mercury in Aqua). I'm very reserved too. But I have Saturn exactly opposing my ASC. And Uranus also opposing my ASC.I'm not exactly sure what people see first since my chart ruler is in the same sign as my Sun (also with Uranus aspecting my ascendant). IP: Logged |

I kinda think your moon sign plays along in how you present yourself. If you haven't talked to me and just observe me I come across very much as my Scorpio ASC , w/ Pluto conjunct. If you don't know me you'd probably be afraid to approach me. However, once people get to know me I find myself acting very much like my Sagittarius moon! Friendly, joking, sarcastic, playful, always asking questions, wanting to do things, etc.. I find myself acting like my Capricorn sun around my family and VERY close, personal friends only. It is quite miserly, critical, aloof. So it's a toss-up. Moon or Sun shows when I am most comfortable with people..though the people seem to determine whether I let my moon or sun shine. My ASC is more how I LOOK, how I observe what is going on around me, how I instantly react to my surroundings.

I have Saturn in the 1st. Good point. quote: Friendly, joking, sarcastic, playful, always asking questions, wanting to do things, etc..
That doesn't necessarily sound un-Scorpionic, especially the "always asking questions." IP: Logged |

What about having several planets in the first? I think this mask and sun sign idea is valid, but doesn't hold as much weight when there are a bunch of planets in the first. ------------------ Sun - Leo Moon - Pisces Ascendant - Sagittarius IP: Logged |

aqua sun / aries risingi've been told several times that i come across as an aqua. in fact, in an interview the interviewer actually guessed it! i am social and hate being trapped with 1 person... love to go places alone and i love talking to people b/c i learn new things. hang out in bars alone, just mingling with whoever comes in. i also have to set myself "apart" and make myself unique in some way. usually an outrageous accessory, or the drink i'm drinking. i root for random sports teams, or listen to country music...i've been told i'm a walking contradiction - because what you see is definitely not what you get when i open my mouth. aries... eh... can't think of much. i have an aries roommate (for 7 years) and we're like salt & vinegar, so completely opposite of eachother... night and day, so i never see myself with her attributes. ------------------ *Christina* Aquarius SUN Gemini MOON Aries ASC IP: Logged | |
