You can reply to current strings here only. Start all new Topics in Astrolgy 2.0, not here. ------------------ "Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia." Charles Schultz IP: Logged |

Not death...we can still respond to strings here, pull up older ones, and link to strings here on the new Forum. In a few weeks, Astrology 2.0 will be so active that this one won't be missed much at all. ------------------ "Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia." If you can't deactivate new posts in this board, then I suggest editting the template file to remove the "New Topic" link - that should work... ------------------ Sun = Aquarius... Moon = Aries... Venus = Capricorn... Mars = Pisces... Mercury - Pisces... IP: Logged |

I run a vBulletin board and it has a feature where you can mass move posts to a new forum. Does this board have that feature? Can you mass move all the Astrology forum posts to Astrology 2.0 then delete the old, empty Astrology forum?IP: Logged |

I've seen on some boards that a topic can be made into a sticky so it will always stay at the top of a forum. Maybe this can done with this topic so it is the first one everyone will see and hopefully that will stop the new posts.

quote: Why do people keep starting new threads?!
Because they apparently can't read. Since there seems to be no technical solution to the problem, short of switching to vBulletin (which would import all the old forums and posts then both Astrology forums could be merged - and I, for one, would happily contribute via Paypal toward an upgrade to vBulletin which has so many amazing features including private messaging, a feature that shows the first few lines of the topic when you scroll your mouse over threads, and the page automatically going to your post after you've posted something even if it's on page 2 or higher), perhaps the mods should just post a "Do Not Start Any New Threads In This Forum - Post New Threads in Astrology 2.0" reminder anytime a new thread is started, on the new thread. If you do not want new threads, why do you have a place to do so? Makes no sense to me.IP: Logged |

Rev. Alice, if nothing can currently be done about posting new topics, and a reminder such as this thread is the only way to try and warn others, then what's wrong with just being considerate? Makes sense to me. IP: Logged |

LOLI think it's hilarious the way people keep starting new threads when this one stands out like a sore thumb haha Can you disable "new thread" icon, Randall? You might have to at this rate IP: Logged |

I was hoping to keep this Forum up for review and to reply to topics, but if people continue posting new topics, I will have to close it (make it disappear) until I can come up with a different solution.------------------ "Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. Can you disallow all users access to this forum (take away their permission)? (Not "access" per se, but rather the ability to post.) It would mean no more replies to any threads, but it would keep people from messing it up.You could also try relegating this forum to the bottom of the menu screen, so it won't be right on top when people come here. I'd personally be inclined to order the topics by popularity so that the most used forums are in order from the top, except for this one of course. IP: Logged |

I was going to move this Forum to the bottom of the list, but then I explored nonposting options. I actually now have it set up where only Mods can post new Topics. But anyone can reply. It was easier than I anticipated. ------------------ "Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia." Charles Schultz IP: Logged |
