That was odd.
That wasn't the name of this thread at all.
Oh, well.

Aside from my signature at the bottom, Here's a favorite, its a poem that is at the beginning of my copy of The Great Gatsby:

Then wear the gold hat;
if that will please her
If you can bounce high, bounce for her too.
Till she cry, lover, gold-hatted, high-bouncing lover; I must have you.

I can't remember the author's name.
I think it is one of the most beautiful poems I have ever read, it's so stirring.(I took some liberties with the punctuation and probably some of the words too as I do not have a copy of it in front of me.)

My mother is now telling me that the poem is corny crap
Hey, that's not funny.

This isn't a love song, but it's my favorite and it's so pretty and it just came on while I was reading this thread.

The Stairs

In a room above a busy street
The echoes of a life
The fragments and the accidents
Separated by incidents
Listen to the walls
We share the same spaces
Repeated in the corridros
Performing the same movements
Story to story
building to building
street to street we pass each other

Listen to the walls
We share the same spaces
Repeated in the corridors
Performing the same movements

The nature of your tragedy
Is chained aroud your neck
Do you lead, or are you led?
Are you sure that you don't care?

There are reasons here to give your life
And follow in your way
The passion lives to keep the faith
Though all are different, all are great

Climbing as we fall
We dare to hold on to our fate
And steal away our destiny
To catch ourselves with quiet grace

Story to story, building to building
Street to street
We pass each other on the stairs

Can't sleep-ignore the time I posted (I am such a loser!ha ha)

the line....."Everytime she sneezes I believe it's love"
I get tingly in some unexpainable way every time I hear it...so accepting.....so honourable......so silly and captures how it really feels to be in love. (And the sneeze has been compared to another *happier* bodily outpouring of energy!)

i love this verse by Lewis Carrol taken from Alice in wonderland.
LG used it in Sun Signs in the cancerian woman section.

echoes fade and memories die
autumn frosts have slain july
still she haunts me phantomwise
Alice moving under the skies
never seen by waking eyes.

Hey, I've gotta say a few of my favorite lines from love songs:
She likes me for me,
not because I sing like Pavoratti,
or because I'm such a hottie, ahhh...

I like her for her,
not because she's phat like Cindy Crawford,
she has got so much to offer,
why does she waste all her time on me?
there must be something there that I don't see, I don't see..."

-Blessid Union of Souls- "Hey Leonardo"

"I've loved you forever,
and lifetimes before...
and I promise you never,
will you hurt anymore..
I give you my hand, I give you my heart,
this is a battle we've won..."

I'll hold you close, each loving day
and know this feeling, won't go away...
Every word I say is true..
this I promise you"

-N'Sync- "This I Promise You"

"I don't need a lot of things,
I can get by with nothing...
Of all the blessings life can bring,
I've always needed something

But I've got all I want,
when it comes to loving you...
You're my only reason,
You're my only true...

I need you like water,
like breath, like rain
I need you like mercy,
from heaven's gate

There's a feeling in your arms,
that carries me through,
I need you...Oh, yes I do"

-LeeAnn Rimes- "I Need You"

And one of my new favorites...

"So I'm a little left of center,
I'm a little out of tune...
Some say I'm paranormal
so I just bend their spoon

Who wants to be ordinary,
in a crazy mixed world?
I don't care what their saying,
as long as I'm your girl

You...get me...
when nobody understands,
you come and take the chance...
You...get me...
when all the pieces fit
you make sense of it
cause you...get me"

-Michelle Branch- "You Get Me"

Both by my favourite EBM band VNV Nation

quote:

So why do I love when I still feel pain?
When does it end when is my work done?
Why do I fight
And why do I feel
that I carry a sword
through a battlefield

quote:

Does Anybody Feel the Way I do?
Is there anybody out there
Are you hearing me?
I beleive in you
will you beleive in me?
or am I alone
In this hall of dreams

Oh boy, how many am I allowed??

There'll be no strings to bind your hands
Not if my love can't bind your heart
And there's no need to take a stand
For it was I who chose to start
I see no need to take me home
I'm old enough to face the dawn

-from "Angel of the Morning" by Nina Simone

Just because I listened to that on the train last week and I think it sparked a nostalgic couple of days. lol

There are 3 others that I love in full...Here's one:
Words like violence
Break the silence
Come crashing in
Into my little world

Painful to me
Pierce right through me
Can't you understand
Oh my little girl

All I ever wanted
All I ever needed
Is here in my arms
Words are very unnecessary
They can only do harm

Vows are spoken
To be broken
Feelings are intense
Words are trivial
Pleasures remain
So does the pain
Words are meaningless
And forgettable

All I ever wanted
All I ever needed
Is here in my arms
Words are very unnecessary
They can only do harm

-"Enjoy the Silence" by Depeche Mode

(Giving Love Song)There is no sense in pretending
Your eyes give you away
Something inside of you is feeling like I do
Baby Breakdown and give it to me
Breakdown can't you see me standing here

(Need Love Song)Don't you ever be sad,
Lean on me when times are bad
When the day comes and you are in doubt
In a River of Trouble About to Drown
Hold on I'm Coming, Hold on I'm on my way
If you get Cold yeah I'll be your Cover
No Need to Worry, because I'm here
No Need to Suffer because I'm Here
Hold On I'm Coming, Hold On, Hold On
Don't you ever be down
When you need me
Hold on I'm Coming
I'm Coming Over
Don't you Worry Baby
Don't you Worry
I'm Coming
Reach out to me for satisfaction
Call my Name for quick reactions
B.B. King
Hold on I'm Coming

(Drinking Love Song)

Whatever Lola wants
Lola Gets
And if Lola wants you
Make up your mind to have'
No regrets
Resign yourself , resign yourself
you are through
I always get what I aim for
and your heart and soul
is what I came for
whatever Lola wants
Lola gets
Take off your coat, don't you know you can't win
Can't Win
You are no exception to the rule
I;m irrestible you fool
give in
Give In, you'll never win
Whatever Lola Wants, Lola Gets
and if Lola makes up her mind to have you
I always get what I aim for
and your heart and soul is what I came for
Whatever Lola wants, Lola Gets
Take off your Coat
Don't you know you can't win, you never win
you are no exception to the rule, I'm irrestible you fool, Give in you'll never win
Give in
Give in

(Regretful Love Song)My feet are shuffling through the Texas sand, but my head's in Memphis
That night in Memphis I thought I was in Heaven
Lord I thought I was in heaven
But I was really stumbling through the parking lot of an invisible 7-eleven, what was I doing out there? Now I am on my back watching naked cowgirls dancing across the ceiling
What was I doing there?

Oh, and Tracy Chapman's "The Promise":

If you wait for me then I'll come for you
Although I've traveled far
I always hold a place for you in my heart
If you think of me
If you miss me once in awhile
Then I'll return to you
I'll return and fill that space in your heart
Remembering
Your touch
Your kiss
Your warm embrace
I'll find my way back to you
If you'll be waiting
If you dream of me like I dream of you
In a place that's warm and dark
In a place where I can feel the beating of your heart

Remembering
Your touch
Your kiss
Your warm embrace
I'll find my way back to you
If you'll be waiting
I've longed for you and I have desired
To see your face your smile
To be with you wherever you are

Remembering
Your touch
Your kiss
Your warm embrace
I'll find my way back to you
If you'll be waiting
I've longed for you and I have desired
To see your face, your smile
To be with you wherever you are

Remembering
Your touch
Your kiss
Your warm embrace
I'll find my way back to you
Please say you'll be waiting

Together again
It would feel so good to be
In your arms
Where all my journeys end
If you can make a promise
If it's one that you can keep,
I vow to come for you
If you wait for me and say you'll hold
A place for me in your heart.

Ok, I think I've taken up enough long posts.

No way Oxychick, keep going, I am being inspired!!!!! Music/lyrics will do that to you! I'm taken right back to certain moments in time with music.

Tori Amos......any lyric she writes- so cryptic and usually sexy, Not the words themselves, but how they go together, how they escape her throat and her voice is so pure and angellic. WOW!

I have a couple of friends who are really into Tori Amos, and you're right, she has some amazing voice!

gosh, I should have done this a long time ago, my ego is feeling plumper!!!! Thank you, We have a thing for well- orchestrated pics in my house. That said, I was thinking Ani Difranco has some stellar lyrics....but there are so many great songs/lyrics in the world.
32 Flavors-
squint your eyes and look closer
i'm not between you and your ambition, I am a poster girl with no poster I am thirty two flavors and then some and I'm beyond your peripheral vision so you might want to turn your head cuz some day you might find you are starving and eating all of the words you just said

I love this quote by Helen Rowland;

Falling in love consists merely in uncorking the
imagination and bottling the common sense.
- Helen Rowland

As you may have gathered I love quotes!

Miracles occur naturally as expressions of love. The real miracle is the love that inspires them. In this sense everything that comes from love is miracle. - Marianne Williamson

We need to teach the next generation of children from day one that they are responsible for their lives. Mankind's greatest gift, also its greatest curse, is that we have free choice. We can make our choices built from love or from fear. -Elizabeth Kubler-Ross

Indigo Eyes - By Peter Murphy

Fire burning in a hill
The lines are rocky rough
Red angels wait to pick remains
The cindered shoulder
Of confused men
Seperate from their awe
With grey desire
He looks out mad
His soft grey indigo eyes
Indigo eyes ...
Asking

His heaven is uncovered not
A black tree blocks his way
His way is skating round a dome
(His way is in dismay)
The playmate sings
Like Orphee in some thunder world
Asking to be bathed in light
To be exemplified

With grey desire he looks out mad
His soft grey indigo eyes

Saw his past
He had dug for trust
With blind infected hands
And wondered as the hurt bit hard
Why the sacred weren't at hand
Only when his ears were deaf
To the angels light burst waves
Only when his ears were deaf
Did life turn from fog to fog
But not evil but estranged
But not evil but estranged

Indigo eyes, Indigo eyes
Indigo eyes, Indigo eyes

With grey desire
He looks out mad
His soft grey
Indigo eyes
Indigo eyes

***************************************

This is a cool song by a cool singer/songwriter!
