I am having cravings for comfort foods. The time is 6:18 am, and I already have plans to go to the grocery store after work to get the ingredients to make breaded pork chops, mashed potatoes with russets and sweet potatoes, and green beans. There may be glazed carrots and biscuits if I feel like going extra special. IP: Logged |

I stopped eating pork and redmeat a while ago, I did one of those how old will you live tests and after that Istarted to try to eat healthy. And my cravings kinda went away. I used to have huge cravings for cake and candy etc. Also cutting out salt from my diet got rid of the cravings. The only thing I crave constantly still is cheese!!!! I've had it for years!!! I can't get enough of itIP: Logged |

I'm coming to Amy's for lunch today. ...once in a while we can splurge. Why are you craving comfort food, Amy? Are you sad? Is it a grey cloudy day? Do you miss your mommy? IP: Logged |

for this hypohondric Virgo here - the menu you mentioned above sounds like a real disaster, haha .. mashed patatoes, pork chops, sweet patatoes - oh boy!! Nothing like scaloops, shrimps, fine red wine and salad. I am getting my mouth watery now, gotta go feed this baby, yum IP: Logged |

Hey Lioneye,Yeah, I miss my mom. I just ate chicken teriyaki with rice and steamed veggies from a restaurant across the street from the office. Close enough to her cooking, I guess. I can't cook her homestyle Southeast Asian food. It's not the same. It feels different now that I live alone. Ariesrocks, I've had cravings even when I was a vegetarian eating organic food for a while. You must be doing something right. Kewl for you You're an Aries with seriously no addictions! Biss, be careful with seafood and fish because of the mercury levels. Pregnant women have been advised to avoid Tuna. (Not that I even know if you're pregnant, just a bit of info). Oh, and your niblings sound like a disaster to me because I am allergic to seafood. IP: Logged |

Whoops, I meant supper...I'm going to Amy's for supper. If your mom cooks homestyle Asian food, why is it that breaded pork chops are a comfort food for you? Did/do you have a special friend who used to/still does make that for you? That is a very N.American meal, something MY mom would make on a typical day.IP: Logged |

Now my menu for the evening has been tossed out the window and I must go home and have mashed potatoes. And I'm craving chocolate...but I try to only eat it once a week and the weekend is soooooooo far away. There's a box of chocolate- peanut butter meltaways by my desk and you just don't know the restraint it takes for me to not dive in... Life is short. Indulge. Right? IP: Logged |

Yes, but sparingly...or it's not as special. Mash potatoes are now on my menu tonight as well. But we'll be barbequeing the chops...(going to sweetie's for supper, and he's the bbq king...like most men ) Actually, Betty Crocker has some instant mashed potatoes that are REAAAAALLLY Good! Honest! They don't taste like the box! I love the roasted garlic flavored ones. Mmmm. Mashed potatoes in 5 minutes! IP: Logged |

It's living alone, Aphrodite. I craved comfort foods too for a little while. Then I started meeting my mom fairly regularly for dinner, etc. My only caution is beware of nutella. Evil stuff. But oh so delicious. IP: Logged |

Oh, don't even start on the chocolate thing!! Cadbury's chocolate is all over the house now after Easter!! Crunchies and Mars bars and boxes of Heroes.... English chocolate is divine, but must not eat any, have to squeeze into a fancy dress in 3 weeks for a party.... why, oh why is that chocolate bar talking to me now? ''eat me, please eat me....''IP: Logged |

Mashed potatoes, chocolate, and Nutella? I ended up not going to the grocery store and made a toasted sandwich with cheese, artichoke hearts, and garlic. You're probably right, Oxychick. I'm thinking of cornbread with pepperjack cheese this morning. *sighs* My mom lives about 2 hours away. I've heard that this isn't a long time compared with East Coast standards, is this true? Perhaps I should pay her a visit this weekend. Hmm. I've eaten the Betty Crocker instant mashed potatoes before. They are pretty good when they are made according to directions. I often times don't have the required milk and add water IP: Logged |
