So, take a stab at this one, oh Great Masters of charts in the universe, because it's beyond me (at least astrologically).

The Subjects: me, your friendly neighborhood Grasshopper (8/8/1974, Rutland, VT, 12:05pm) and her, your friendly neighborhood grasshopperette (10/1/73, Springfield, MO, 6:30am).

The Problem: You know, this relationship should be fine (so says my chart interpretation). And we've made it work for about a year. But it's been the rockiest thing I've ever experienced!!!! The potential seems unreal ... but the reality is quite different! Any ideas? Any? Anyone?

I'm not qualified to speak from an astrological sense... but, I've been in a relationship with the same person for almost 10 years.

Ours has been rocky at times. Relationships have their ups and downs.

I'm not really sure what you mean by "rocky" ... but I'll share my experience with you. Maybe it will help.

Oh.. and, I've yet to meet a Leo I don't get along with really well. I don't know what the astro buffs have to say about that.. but that's my personal experience. I have several close Leo friends. One of which (born 8/8 ) is the closest friend I've ever had. Best friends, at the risk of sounding childish.

Anyhow... it's usually the first year that is peaches and cream. That's usually because we're holding back a bit. Then after that things become more real. Maybe the two of you never really held anything back and have just been real the whole time. If this is the case, that could cause some turbulance in the relationship.

Here's how I analize my relationship with my husband.

He's a Taurus/Libra Moon/Scorp Asc ... I'm a Libra/Cancer Moon/Gemini Asc.

I really think we have been brought together to help each other. He is strong where I am weak, and vice versa. I'm up in the clouds, and he is firmly grounded on earth. We help each other in that respect. We're not a lot a like, but we compliment each other perfectly.

My husband suffered from severe social anxiety and depression for a very long time. I, personally, have trouble fathoming social anxiety and am exteremely optimistic (usually). It took almost 9 years, but I was able to help him through this. He did the work, of course... but I was able to guide him to the work that needed to be done. Does that make sense?

As for him helping me... I'm not very organized. My head's in the clouds. I wanna do fun stuff, and that's all. He's helped me to be more responsible about my life. I'd just do what feels good and forget the rest. He's helped me to realize that about myself and take the proper steps to become more responsible.

My advice is to have a good look at the relationship and what it offers both of you. Do you lift each other up, or drag each other down? Likes and dislikes, IMHO, don't make a bit of difference.

A rocky relationship could be rocky because the two parties aren't working together for the common good of the relationship.

Anyhow.. there's my two cents. Hope it helps in some way

That was cool reading LibraSparkle - especially since you and I have some similar influences.

Grasshopper,

You two have some pretty wonderful linkages, right off the bat I saw your Venus trine her Venus. You have Mars trine her Mars. You even got a romantic linkage between Venus and Jupiter, they're in trine too. You have Neptune trine Mercury which is beautiful for communication and romantic evenings. Even the Moon trine Mercury is on your side. Interesting combo with Jupiter trine Pluto. Saturn does not seem to be making any real hard clashes. Except possibly Saturn squaring the Ascendant, and that looks about it. Chiron the "Love Planet" seems to be making a square to Venus, but in your case that will only cause irresistable attraction (the sinister kind). However, if your not married it might indicate this relationship is an impossible dream. As a novice astrologer, I would say the most romantic linkage you have is Jupiter trine Venus. Are you married? If you are, it looks like that linkage is what led both of you to get married, or if your not to remain together. So now you ask, what could have possibley went wrong? Well basically there are two charts for your relationship. Your natal relationship to one another, the day you met, or the day you got married. The day you got married is extremely important because if you got married on a bad astrological day, chances are no matter how compatible you are, you guys will still bicker and fight. What day did you meet or get married on? Another problem is that your relationship lacks Chiron linkages, those linkages lead relationships into long lasting happiness and satisfaction. You don't have to be soulmates to have these linkages. Chiron linkages with another person, make it easier for us to live with them, and get happily married with children. Do we need them? Not exactly, they're more like karmic rewards.

No - I'm not sure if I've found my true love yet. You have great synchronicity. I've not been so lucky. I'm kind of someone you don't know what category to put me in, type person. But I do like Taurus', and Taurus Moons. I've never had a problem with the "Taurus" influence, and I have a Taurus Rising (29.48 degrees). It's usually some other influences in the chart which makes it unmanageable.

Like Mr. T had Venus in Aries, but Mars in Cancer - hee hee hee - never again.

Hi Grasshopper,

What do you two have in the way of "hard aspects" between your charts? Alot of "soft aspects" (trines, sextiles) are nice but relationships need some hard aspects for some "spice". Too many easy aspects can tend to get boring.

I have read this numerous times and searched for some more info. I found this link. It may help you.

quote:
Hard aspects are just as important as soft ones, since they provide energy exchange and mutual attraction. I also include outer planet aspects, since people of the same generation have some automatic compatibilities derived from similar outer planet placements. Particular attention should be paid to hard aspects from Neptune in synastry, as this indicates a lot of fantasy and wishful thinking. When reality finally hits, the relationship often ends.

http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Delphi/1601/synastry.html

It also talks about your day of marriage, or first meeting, and the importance of that chart. You look at it as you would a horary chart.

True you do need hard aspects; however, if you have a lot of sexual aspects with another person then it makes it even better. I would say the sexual aspects would be between Venus, Mars, Neptune, and Pluto.

Thanks for the varied responses, folks. We had a ceremony on February 14th of this year (all romantic on valentines, you know). 1230am. does this help? Don't know much about the aspects or anything else.

thanks, again.

Grasshopper, don't get this the wrong way, but I'm a little confused: didn't you say in a very old post of yours that you were A LOT older than just 30 (or you must've been 28 then) - I think you said or implied that you were closer to 100 or 200? You said you looked much younger than your actual age - well, if you were only in your late 20's, you shouldn't even have any serious wrinkles yet
I'd be grateful for any clarification on that. Thanks,

L.

And Linda was 400. Grasshopper was just saying that the number of times one sees a sun rise and fall can't cause one to age. Some of us lie about our true Earth years all time. I know I do.

*chirp*

We're getting along, just that things are tense. We'll see how it comes together before long. Oh, and in the Neighborhood, I think I chirp too much.
