dear all,

does anyone know much about horary astrology? i just recently got interested (just in the past week or so was reading some about it). anyone know of some good books dedicated solely to the interpretation of horary charts? or good sites?

i did a girlie thing last night and decided to record the exact time i let the question i had enter my mind (it was about marriage). ive been seeing someone for the past year and a half, a virgo that ive mentioned in a previous post or two, and i cant help thinking these thoughts where he's concerned. i don't know if it's my age (33) that makes me ponder such a thing...or whether it's him. perhaps a combination of both.

anyway, so i did a chart through astro.com and came up with more questions than answers. i guess i dont even really know how to read one of these jobs.

a few things of note:
sun, mercury, mars & jupiter in the 4th house
moon & uranus in the 10th
juno & the part of fortune in the 7th

sun conjunct jupiter
moon trine saturn
venus trine pluto

(there's more; those just seem like the pertinent ones.)

sun - libra
moon - aries
AC - gemini
venus - leo
mars - libra

any insights? how do i find the answer to my question?

thanks all!!

Hi Chrissy -

Well, that's the nature of this field of study. The more you learn, the more you want to know. From what I see at a glance, you are someone who needs to feel secure in a relationship, but you also need someone who can keep up with your Moon in Aries, and Gemini Asc. Or else you just move on as soon as you get bored, even though deep down you want that security.

As for info on Horary, I have no books to recommend, and I could have sworn I had saved a really good link or article on it, but cannot find it now. There was a thread in the Astrology section on Horary, maybe that's what I was thinking. I'll try to find it (can't believe I can't find it) - if not, someone else will probably have something good for you.

If not, maybe post a similar thread in the Astrology section where it will get more exposure.

okie doke, i found my answer, or what i think is my answer.

i did some research on the internet yesterday and came up with this...

first off, to cast a horary chart i guess it's supposed to work best if your question is a yes/no one.

secondly, the querent is basically represented by the planet that rules the AC. in this case the AC is gemini so that would be mercury. then you have to look for it to be in an applying aspect to the ruler of the sign on the cusp of the house in question. in this case it is the 7th house, since i wanted to know whether marriage was a possibility with mr. virgo or not (i feel sheepish admitting this since i'm not normally so gung ho about these matters - romantic ones, that is...hah!). anyhoo, the sign on the cusp of the 7th house in this case is sagittarius, so the ruler is jupiter, and in this chart mercury does happen to be conjunct jupiter by 1 degree, and it appears to be an applying aspect...so that's good! plus it looks pretty positive with sun, mercury, mars, and jupiter in the 4th house, the house of home...and with juno and the part of of fortune int he 7th, that also looks good. also, i read somewhere the moon in the 10th house is also positive.

so woo! i obviously dont know much about this faction of astrology...but it's interesting to say the least. just thought you guys would want to know, in case you wanted to try it out and cast your own horary charts. if anyone wants to try it, post your results...i'd love to hear about them.

aw, thanks, pixelpixie! you are too kind.

mostly i just feel the need to qualify my findings because all i really did was read like a couple paragraphs in a book...then i went on the internet and found like, 2 articles about the subject. i know when you find an astrologer on-line who does horary charts (or electional astrology) the base charge is like 50 bucks! and it can get way more expensive. i am sure these people know way more than me, and that they employ much more complicated techniques for determining the answer.

plus i do think it's hard to follow the uh, rules, i guess you'd say. you have to cast the chart for the exact moment the question enters your mind. how hard is that?! my mind races a million miles a minute sometimes.

and also, i'm a little skeptical about the whole thing. i don't really believe the future is 'set in stone'. i think free will plays a large part. but, i'm smitten...and i'm insatiably curious. so i just had to try it!
