Can anyone shed some light about what having a lot of aspects to the MC in a synastry chart might mean?

It depends on what the aspects are, and whosw aspects they are.

Generally aspects to the Midheaven indicates the affect that one partner has on the other's profession or professional abilities.

If you would like to be more specific; birthdates of both partners etc.. I will be happy to try and help you.

I'd really like to know too, what aspects to the MC really signify; is there more to it than the effect on one's profession? Are these powerful aspects that get weighted heavily in synastry, or not so much? I have my North Node conjunct his MC, and vice versa.

I believe 10th house overlays also have an affect of the person whos planets fall in that house to feel a protective parental fatherly like role towards the person. They can also enhance the other persons reputation (or deliberatly try to damage it if the planet is afflicted). The planet that falls in the house will color the interpretation. The moon for instance - the partner with that planet falling in the others 10th house could instictivly understand what she is aiming towards in life and gently try to help her - share her aims and want her to succeed in them. Venus overlayed there, he could be able to offer her alot of help with her career and provide her with valuble encouragement in achieving her goals.

Nodes conjuncting the angles are significant but I'm not sure quite how. I'm betting it is showing a strong connection most likely past life. Depending on if the North or South Node is the one conjuncting the MC could tell even more.
