I was singing a song in the pub called Spancil Hill, tis an ancient Irish ballad about a fair which is held every year in Co. Clare.I sat on a stool and sang my heart out and as I did I felt and heard this male voice behind me, gentle yet strong, I felt supported by him and it felt familiair, the two of us singing together. Later I was at the bar and I turned around to see a pleasant looking man, he said to me "aahh lady I love the way you sing, will ya sing another" he then went to the bar and asked the guy for a pair of spoons and proceeded to play along with the other musicians - so talented, so Irish. Towards the end of the evening he said to me "lady do you know she moved thro the fair - will you sing it" - I told him it was one of my favourite songs and asked if he would sing it with me, he said "I will", So he sat next to me, not too close and he forgets the words and I help him, he is quite drunk, but not threatening, he wouldnt look into my eyes, but I know he wanted to, and then on the last line "till our wedding day" he looked shyly into my eyes and I felt the years roll back, it was a wonderfully magical moment - I knew him, he knew me, he moved me deeply. When I got into my car, I sat for a while and wept, the memories, came flooding in, so joyful, so tragic. In the past we sang together to heal the grief, we danced and forgot the moment, we were united. That is why I have loved "coming home", I had forgotten for a while a part of myself, and now thro meeting others like Johhny, I remember "Aahh Johhny youre only joking Like manys the time before The **** he crew in the morning He crew so loud and shrill I awoke in California Many miles from Spancil Hill" ************************ *********************** I dedicate this to anyone looking for "home" God bless Love Sue xxxx

soozi, you are such a beauteous and perceptive spirit! Thank you for sharing this wonderful experience with us. Have you ever considered writing? You have a wondrous ability to evoke emotion in others -- since I can't hear your singing, I must make do with your writing, and it touches me very deeply! Thanks Again LoveLady! 'Zala IP: Logged |

Thankyou ladies for your kinds words, they moved me!!This type of thing happens to me often, I love the land I live in,it is very special to me. As we all know there are so many people out there willing to hurt each other either physically or with words. These days I try and steer clear of them! Luckily here in Ireland I dont encounter such behaviour, the folk are gentle and kind thank God! My own sister isnt talking to me at the moment cos I challenged her about the way she treats our elderly parents. She also got offended at me cos I wrote love and light on an email - "she said what did you do that for do you think im dark then"? Oh dear guys what would you do with her? Perhaps as my mother used to say "you should put her in a bag and shake her up" LOL ! Having said that, you guys and people like Johnny make life worthwhile - all we have to do is open our eyes and hearts and love is standing there right in front of us - what more could we ask for? Thanks again friends Love to all Sue xx xx
