I feel like my youth is draining away as I constantly observe my life and others, watching from the stands as opposed to jumping in with 2 feet.
I am desperate for a big group of friends right now.
A group that I can have mad parties and fun with.
A group that I can chill on a beach, drinking capinrihas and watching the sun set with.
A group that doesnt shy away from high art and intellectual discussion.
A group wherein we completely accept, love and support each other.
A family of friends.
I'm feeling pretty lonely these days.
I mean I know tons of people but I want intimacy.
Deep, true intimacy...with at least 6 people

How do I go about that?
Does anyone have this?
Or am I asking for too much?

I want the same.

I have 3 very close friends, but they're scattered around the country most of the time. A couple other friends I see on a regular basis but it's not ENOUGH somehow...? I guess it should be. But like you, I want more.

I would love to have the kind of tightknit group you mention -- and I did, a couple years ago. But we all sort of grew apart and went our seperate ways.

That was one of the happiest times of my life, and I miss it.

Hey Goobie,

Yup, just like me.
3 close friends all faraway.
So what to do? What to do?
We just have to put ourselves out there and create what it is we desire.
You in?

Goobie! aww..I like that

I'm in!

Just a little easier said than done...*sigh* I'm kind of reserved. Also, I'm 20 and out of college for the time being.

I'm surprised no one else responded to this thread...I would imagine a lot of people feel the same way.

How old are you, if you don't mind my asking? And what are you into doing in your free time?

When I think about it...a lot of the things I do are kind of solitary activities. Should probably switch it up a little...

I am 24 going on 35!
And like you, I am also a student.
And also like you, I am surprised that a lot of people dont wanna talk about their freinds.

I love my own company too.
I love being able to be spontaneous and just set off whenever I feel like it.
I have always being put off by that group thing wherein everyone has to wait around for each other, because one sight step out of the circle, and the entire group will spontaneously combust!
But I guess it is a small price to pay for comraderie.

I like eating by myself.
I live in the UK so I enjoy vsiting galleries and bookshops.
I adore Borders!!

You?
How do you veg out?

Oh I LOVE Borders! I go there at least twice a week.

Also love to go for hikes with my two dogs. It's great exercise, helps my mood, and makes them soooo happy. I do appreciate my own company very much, I feel very comfortable by myself. Let's see...I love to go shopping, even just to browse. Love galleries, too, although sadly there aren't many in my area.

I love cooking and baking and spend a lot of time browsing natural grocery stores. I swear I spend waaaaay too much time doing that, lol.

I love movies, especially old b&w ones and independent films...but really anything good. I wish I could find a group of movie lovers.

Have you ever heard of meetup.com? It's definitely worth checking out.

Hey mind if I butt in for a moment? I understand this intense desire to have friends. I have felt it myself. Luckily, at this point, I am blessed with a group of friends that at it's smallest is 4 people and largest 30! The group of four is me, my boyfriend, my boyfriends roomate/best friend, and my boyfriend's roomate's girlfriend/ my good friend. We usually hang out in groups of 4 to 8.

Does astrology have anything to do with the friendship factor? I would check out the eleventh house

Maybe the key to having a large group of friends is the expandability of the group as well as tolerant and respectful natures of the people in the group.

Sometimes we get what we most desire when we stop desiring it! I am sure you will find a group of friends soon...I am in college but I met all of my friends through the dance studio. I have never had trouble making friends through theatre because all sorts of people dapple in it from time to time.

Borders is a fantastic store, but I work at Barnes and Noble! lol

peace,
TMC

I have allot of friends... Sometimes, I feel I have too many bc I always feel I can't see them enough. It's my belief you can find a friend in anyone, if you just take the time. I'd say I have about... 9 close friends. I have more friends than 9, but they're not as close. And by close I mean the ones that I let in on my secrets, and don't tell that I'm fine when I'm really not. That kind of thing. There are other's too that I'd like to become friends with but having trouble finding time with the ones I've already got, it's not something I wish for so much.

I don't think friendship is a difficult thing. It's just to reach out And really listen to people when they talk. Really, really LISTEN Not to forget, asking them how they feel. Just plainly show them that you care about them. But I guess you all already know that.

As to having groups of people that are friends, I have that too and it's great because then I can spend time with more friends than just one at a time. I'm a member of 2 such circles of friends, all consisting of 4 ppl. As to my not-having-enough-time problem, I think I have a solution to that one. As I mention earlier I think one can become friends with anyone, so I plan for my friends to become friends! That would be really cool... We could all hang out together then...

Dew,

it might seem stupid, but i'd suggest you write this wish of yours somewhere, addressing it to God (if you believe in Him). It always works for me. if you open your heart and make a wish (without going into the specifics), and then let go....it always gets fulfilled. in its own time. but more often than not real quick. at least for me.

I'm going though the same thing!
My current buddies (4-5) are jusr doing their own thing. I recently made friends with a Virgo but she's highly involved with her family. I hate having no one to hang out with.:/
