MM, he is talking about God  and that although we might long to transcend, and Know, and Understand Everything (God), when we truly hear and connect with God, after we are "transformed", He again reminds us of the work we have to do right here, in ourselves, and around us. I can think of other related meanings as well, and I'm sure you will too once you begin considering them. That is why the words are so beautiful.
