Could a muslim explain to me why any muslim would commit adultery, when the penalty for adultery is so great, whereas divorce is so easy in Islam. You just say "I divorce thee" three times in front of witnesses

I think because while in certain countries divorce is as easy as saying it three times, many Muslims come from cultures where marriage is either arranged or in other ways a whole family event. Its sometimes done for political ties and other things, thus divorcing the woman would make her husband loose her family's support which he might need for the betterment of social status. This is obviously not true in all cases, maybe not even in most but i am pretty sure that it might be in some.
