i have a question...

would it be considered if someone has the mirror opposite of your SUN and ASC sign your twin flame?

like for example if my sun is AQUARIUS and asc is LEO would my twin flame be the opposite of that? i.e sun LEO, asc AQUA?

There are many people out there with that astrological combination, but you only have one Twin Flame.
But it surely would make for an interesting connection.

A Twin Flame would have very unique aspects to your chart.
A double whammy with ASC within 0° - 2°, would be a hint towards a possible Twin Flame-ship. (of course even that doesn`t GUARANTEE such a Twin-flame-connection).
Maybe you can even include the IC here.

Those connections are quite rare. `
I have scanned some celebrity couples (the major planets, Karma, Valentine, Amor, Juno, Eros and Psyche):

Antonio Banderas - Melanie Griffith:
His Mercury conjunct her IC -
Her Mercury squares his IC

Mercury is the ruler of his 7th and her 5th house, and therefore relevant in this particular case.

Her Vertex conjunct his ASC
- whatever will happen between them, they surely changed each others life!

her NN conjunct his ASC (3°)

That little comparision shows that these double whammies with ASC or IC are indeed rare, and appear quite often in relationships, that have at least high soulmate-potential.
Also, those double whammies seem to involve planets, that rule the important relationship houses (1st, 4th, 5th, 7th, 8th) or MC.

I think soul mate connections are far more common than actual twin soul ones.....

I just realized that I share the same birthday with Katie Holmes (only different years).

WEll, I had a look and it seems that
his Sun trines her IC (3°)
her Sun conjuncts his IC (1°)

I think this does qualify as a DW, even though the orb is 3° in one case.

Now let`s see what houses are ruled by Sun in every chart.

Sun rules Katie`s Leo-ascendant, so this is definitely a very poignant placement for her; her ASC-ruler closely conjuncts his IC, a placement, that seems to happen quite often in relationships.
In his chart Sun rules the 12th house (equal houses) or is co-ruler of the 11th house; both are not the typical relationship houses.

Katie`s Sun falls into his 4th house (conjunct the cusp); his Sun falls into her 11th house.

Mmh, interesting.
The DW of Sun-IC shows that there is a close bond, a purpose to this relationship. But it seems that both people may not always agree on what exactly the purpose of that relationship is.
Especially Tom seems to have his very own agenda; Sun rules his 11th / 12th house and falls into Katie`s 11th house; those are all houses that deal with "society" in a broader sense; large groups, circle of friends (11th house). There could be also a spiritual or karmic purpose for him in this relationship (his 12th house).

But her ASC-ruler in his 4th house seems to imply that she has a deep influence on his home, his family; she lightens up (Sun) his home (4th house), whereas he, his social reputation, his ideals (11th house) and his spiritual ideas (12th house) influence her friendships and the way she deals with large groups; maybe she sees him more as a friend, someone who can strengthen her social reputation (11th house is the 2nd from 10th house; the area where you can stabilize - 2nd house-, your public image - 10th house),
whereas he sees her as mother (4th house) and someone who forms his home (4th house is a cardinal house after all), and maybe he wants to keep her there (Sun in 4th house can create a very strong emotional bond and feeling of belonging especially for the house-person).
