quote:
It was love's young dream .... We walked for miles through fields, woods and country lanes. I sometimes wonder what we found to talk about. We both loved and enjoyed nature's wonderful treasures, from the tiniest flower and insect to mighty trees and hill top views of the vast Chesire plain ... Philip introduced me to poetry too... He often quoted a few lines of poetry when speaking to me, and sometimes when he kissed me good night would say, 'I could not love thee dear so much, loved I not honour more.' I was very young at that time, and wondered what he maent when he said that. In those days I must have been very innocent or very ignorant.

This extract is from the unpublished autobiography of May Jones. This one too:

quote:
Then everything was shattered; a letter came from the War Office to say he had been killed in action. The shock and loss was terrible, I felt I had lost half of myself, or was it my twin soul. I knew then that I should die an old maid.

Both quotes are included in the opening pages of "Singled Out: How Two Million Women Survived Without Men After the First World War" by Virginia Nicholson.

May Jones was one of the 2 million 'surplus women' who were born in the generation 1885 to 1905. The author quotes from May Jones unpublished autobiography and describes how she was romantic, imaginative, intelligent and that "her favourite author was Marie Corelli, whose romantic melodramatic romances imbued her with the sense that some day, somewhere, she would unite with her twin soul."

Well she met him but lost him when she was only 20 years old.

It is particularly cruel that Philip was a pacificist and refused to partake in combative service. He was a stretcher-bearer, killed on his second tour of duty.

My maternal grandparents were of this generation. One day my son asked my mother how many cousins she had, he was surprised when she said: none. Her parents had at least 3 sisters between them to my knowledge. One was a Nursing Sister who herself died in military service, in WWII.

Is it so? Shall we wait for our twinsoul or shall we have some substitute meanwhile like a soulmate?

What's best do you think? Stay single?

This woman seems so true with her love

I think he needs a good old dose of your AlphaOmega actually!

He's an idiot to walk away because i'm a really lovely girl and he knows it. Difference between us is, l prefer to forgive and he prefers to forget

Thank you for your beautiful wishes and heartfelt words X

Lara, if he is your twin soul, he has not forgotten you. Sometimes it is very painful being with your twinsoul, so people will choose the easier path and leave, rather than facing the challenges of the relationship.

He needs time to find "himself" before being able to recognize himself in you, and come back.

I wish you all the happiness that love can bring!
