I got an email from an astrology website selling personalized two-person readings, w/ the headline "Are You Two a Perfect Match?". It got me to thinking, what exactly constitutes a perfect match astrologically speaking? Certain aspects in the synastry chart? Certain elements of a composite chart? If so, what are those? Anyone...anyone..?

In my humble opinion, there is no such thing. I belive aspects aren't fatalistic. Two people can have all the trines, conjunctions, sextiles, opps and whatever else in the world. This does not guarantee the two will ever be together forever and happy.

------------------
Virgo Asc 6˚& Mars 0˚
Gemini Sun 24˚
Libra Moon 14˚(conjunct Pluto 0˚ in 2nd house)
Gemini Mercury 25˚
Cancer Venus 29˚
And yes, i'm a guy!

i have to agree. my synastry with ex hub was amazing, and the composite too. EVERY planet aspected exactly between the two - saturn stuff, all the outer planets as well as some delicious personal aspects...well he IS a soulmate, and maybe perfect for me since i was never the marrying kind...we made a child and split up (several times we split up) and finally divorced after many years of being apart...and i consider myself WELL out of there!!

but my point is that even with this incredible astrology and long-term, changing relationship, it was/is far from perfect. because no two people are perfect, in themselves or for each other....in my opinion of course!

I agree that there's no such thing as "perfect" per se and that aspects in a chart don't necessarily mean a happy fulfilling relationship. I'm just wondering what technically constitutes "perfect match" from an astrological PoV.

Thanks for the link snowdream!

Thats rather hard to say because I imagine, what is perfect in one persons eyes is not perfect in another. And since there are no fast rules. Perhaps there is no such thing as a "perfect match" from an astrological POV.

So I guess my answer would be, "I don't know".
Probably not what you were looking for, lol.

may be it's just because we buy the idea that a commercial website can tell us, and help us to find something that we need.

pretending to replace the universe.

Isis...there ARE certain aspects that constitude some togetherness. let me give u an example. Moon conjunct /trine Sun ...also Moon Conjunct Sun is a BIGGY...also...placements in 7th house....conjunctions to the ascendant of personal planets...and plenty of strong Saturn harmonious ties. U may have some stressfuls too...but u want also to have harmonious to balance it. PERFECT doesnt mean all is smooth...you may have needs that cannat be met by a completely smooth synastry. Even Linda Goodman..who we all look up to here...even she and hewr Twin had somke challenging aspects. They NEEDED them...for Soul advancement. They HAD to learn things from eachother. Also...IF u have the above mentioned aspects and they are accompanied by Venus/ Pluto contact...this can point to ur TWIN soul...diofferewnt from Soul mate. Asoul mate can be ur child/parent/freind. This is different from TWIN soul.. TWIN soul is your Other Half. You will complete eachother with your association. Maybe all thre forgoing aspects apply...but Venus Squares Pluto, instead of trine or conjuincy...well..the two of you have to work it out. The rewards are lovley. But the aspects I mentioned...thwy are usually crucial and need to be there. Also..trines and conjunctions to Neptune.

problem is, if you have a heavy natal chart then all those lovely sun/moon conj's in synastry are just too much!!!

Here u go...this may give some idea. Many can be Soulmates...freinds/family/children, etc... But TwinSouls have a more complex destiny. One of the usual indicaters and proof of complexity is that TWINSOULS usually have Moon CONJUNCT Sun or Ascendant to an exact degree. U have to understand the chances of that are very slim. It means the MOMENT one being took their first breath it was at the EXACT degree that the moon was in when another was bor...(or WILL BE born) Its not very common...especially if the other person whos is already born or WILL BE born...takes a breath at the exact moment when the sun was rising as the other persons moon was in. Do u see? This assures them of a tight emotional connection, difficult to break. The difficult to break becomes enhanced by aspects to Saturn, especially the Sun. Tight conjunctions are great indicaters...you will also want some saturn. ANd other things....this page may help you...

Got Gem

Totally agreed. The chart maps the potential - we still have free-will.

I've seen the crappiest synastry and composite on two people I know who've been together a long long looong time and are very much still in love. It's been 20 years and they are still together.

Nothing in their chart really stands out.

I've had completely beautiful synastry with someone and by astrological standards we 'should' have been married (sun 7th house, perfect Mars/Venus, ascendant contact, Saturn stuff, NN and IC stuff, vertex, blah blah blah)....yet it just doesn't feel right at all. I'll always kind of love him and he will love me too, but we're soooo not right for relationship together.

So, yeah...free will.

Despite my reply..I do actually agree that free will is the greatest factor. But I also agree that not all happily married couples are necessarily TwinSouls.
