What is PLuto meant to teach in relationships?
Is it meant to teach you to run?
Or to stay?

If you see a Mars square Pluto aspect is that a red flag warning to run for your life or an opportunity to practice patience and forgiveness?

Is every relationship either permanent romantic soul mate relationship material, or just something to be discarded at first disappointing glance at the Plutonic synastry...?

I took the time to type out what I think about my own experiences with PLutonic energy in relationships for my friend, OneRuledByMars, and I thought others might find it an interesting perspective that they either share or disagree with so here goes...

Oh Mars, I ignored your order (kiss kiss you Mars ruled stallion, order this Venusian around any day :^D ) to type info on my personal relationships at the time but...

wellllllllll,

let's just mention that my stellium

(Venus/Uranus exact conjunct in the 9th and Sun/Merc/Pluto conjunct THAT annnd each other in the 8th)

in the 9th/8th house is in Libra/Virgo and the PLuto of the two generations of men who are my dating age all have Pluto in either late Virgo or early Libra... which is then conjunct my stellium.

My stellium is also trine my own Mars in Aqua, and my Saturn in Gemini... which usually makes my partner's Pluto also trine my Saturn and Mars. AND my moon is square my Sun and Venus so the Libra Pluto guys have the extra bonus of squaring my Moon (on top of all the conjunctions to my combined planets).

So,
it is pretty much my lesson/curse in this life to deal with Plutonic energy. My work is in the 8th house and 9th house, and most of my life has been about bringing 9th house matters to the 8th house environment. Since Venus, Uranus and Sun are in Libra, it makes sense that in partnership matters my Venusian love nature in the 9th influences my own Sun, Mercury and Pluto in the 8th and also their Pluto... in my 8th.

My vocal professor chose this song for me to sing a dozen or so years ago...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JM4MIg4Qte4&feature=related

I sit and watch the rain
And see my tears run down the window pane
I sit and watch the sky
and I can hear it heave a sigh
I think of him how we were
And when I think of him, then I remember
(remember)
In his eyes I can see
where my heart longs to be
In his eyes I see a gentle glow
and that's where I'll be safe I know
Safe in his arms, close to his heart
but I don't know quite where to start

By looking in his eyes
Will I see beyond tomorrow?
By looking in his eyes
will I see beyond the sorrow, that I feel?

Will his eyes reveal to me
promises or lies?
But he can't conceal from me the love in his eyes

They're like an open book (his eyes)
I know their every look (his eyes)
All most of all the look that hypnotized me

If I'm wise, I will walk away and gladly
But sadly I'm not wise
Its hard to tuck away the memories, that you prize

Love is worth forgiving for
now i realize
everything worth living for is there in his eyes

Love is worth forgiving for
now i realize (now i realize)
everything worth living for is there in his eyes

************************************

The song is from Jekyll and Hyde.
Every girl has a princess story and mine has always been Beauty and the Beast.

I used to fight it. Mars in the first wasn't going to put up with that. Mars battling PLuto is quite the experience. My very first story involved my high school sweetheart of 3 years who I completely and immediately discarded after he devastated my heart and mind by telling me he met some girls at his summer job and thought he should date more people before committing to me for life. He was back a week later saying it was a mistake but THERE WAS NO WAY I WAS GOING TO PUT UP WITH THAT!! :/

Its pretty much been my life lesson learning from my male friends and astrological, and spiritual studies (music too!) to go ahead and put up with that. ;^) People are crazy, people are confused, no one knows what they want from one minute to the next (unless you deny large parts of yourself) and life/God/The Universe directs your course for the most part for what you came to learn and what lessons you need for your soul's growth. The people who come to love you are your spiritual friends who signed up to go through the hell of this earth school at your side and that's nothing to be angry with them about... if you can help it.

But, you know that, Mars. I've heard you say very similar things. Which is why I like you (and thank you for being even a small part of my life). It is good to hear it coming from another.

So, in general to everyone... it is my contention that we have the most important lessons to learn from Pluto. And ignoring him and pretending he does not exist (or is not really a planet hehe) probably will not make the energy go away... it will just force it to become more diffuse and subversive. I think we need to learn to love even what is difficult (the red flags) and need to realize that those who are more openly dealing with these red flags are not foolish or weak... but are dealing with real energy that needs to be used as a part of creation... energy that has a part just as important as the other energies we are more comfortable with in life. Anything else is a denial of the suffering others face daily (in suffering war torn countries for an obvious example) which is what Scorpio seems to be trying to teach us as a sign ruled by Pluto.

I read once that we are not meant to feel sorry for a homeless person we pass on the street, that would be disrespectful of the station of their life... disrespectful of the path their higher self had chosen for them to experience/teach themselves and teach others in this lifetime. But we are meant to feel compassion. And if that compassion moves us to take an action to ease their suffering then that is the right thing to do.

I guess this is just a reminder to be gentle with yourselves when choosing people to love. No, you shouldn't get over your head and just drown in the name of love. But you also shouldn't just confine yourselves to placid lakes and avoid the ocean. Take the time to learn to swim... and then experience the ocean. Everyone should experience the ocean before they die.

That was beautiful, Mel
Thank you for sharing your wisdom with us

I'll let you know how that whole Pluto thing went *after* he's done squaring with my Venus in 2010

Oh Zala, so much love to you. What a beautiful picture. I'll be dealing with Pluto squaring all of my air and conjuncting my AC and moon for quite some time too. Lessons to learn.

Well, I just experienced some Pluto a bit ago. It was different than in the past in that I experienced the pain and felt the anger rising and the emotions... but then realized much more quickly that the truth is that we love each other and my friend is just trying to figure things out. Years ago the same situation would have had me losing my mind in anger and I would have demanded my anger be heard... Pluto (the other person's Pluto to my Mars) would have done his best to crush that Mars, and Mars would have fought almost to the death. Pluto TO the death, of course.

Now I see things so differently. I just have faith in the love. I believe in love. And my love doesn't depend on the other person behaving a certain way or feeling love for me back. There are certain people I love no matter what. I hope I am strong enough to add more people to that list throughout my life. That would be a true accomplishment.

That is what Linda meant by love overcoming aspects.

Thank you Mel, this rang so true with me today. And I really needed this insight right now. I agree with you about Pluto. Saturn I can deal with but Pluto - he's doing his work with me at the moment and I feel wrecked. I've got transiting Pluto conjuncting my NN and opposing natal Saturn. It is so horrible but in the madness of the ashes I can see the phoenix. It is nuts. My progressed Sun is Scorpio. I feel so Scorpionic it's truly horrifying me. I have so much empathy for the Scorps these days. It's not pretty but my god, the power of it. To be used for good or evil. Thanks so much Mel.

Mystic Mel:
How did I miss this post?

Honestly. I am at a lost for words after reading it.
Whats interesting is that we seem to have grown into the same place over the course of this year.. Love has risen to its highest vibration now, it no longer resonates with Venus.. it feels as though it has Risen to Neptune. And there it is now manifesting into our lives as unconditional love for everyone including ourselves...

That is profound Mel and very, very deep....

You wrote:

Funny you should write that, I have always had some extreme fascination with horses. I adore them. I used to draw picture after picture of them. I used ride every weekend. I love taking care of them, even the clean up part. I could spend hours in the pasture as a kid propped up against something reading with my horse nearby. I have dreams of being a Centaur often. I imagine if I could be any animal it would be a black stallion with a look of fierce wildness in his eyes, and he would roam the plains with a spirit that could never be tamed....

Thats quite some energy you have going there girl. Pluto is my chart ruler in the sign of Libra. It is conjunct my DNA and opposes my Juno and Eris, Mars in Aries.
Interesting.......

Seems like the energies were slightly different but the combinations of them made for similiar manifestations.
Yours however being way more intense than mine.

Thats so funny! I was the same way. My first love broke my heart by kissing another boy, I think I was like 15. And I did the same thing! I walked away. I always had this innate idea of how I should be treated.
*sigh*

you also wrote:

Now this one brought tears to my eyes. Pholus semi-sextiles my Sun and is conjunct my Venus and Mercury and squares my Neptune/Moon/Reiki/Merlin stellum I feel like it played a huge part because honestly. Like you... I just stopped getting mad. I stopped fighting, and the tools from the lessons began to flood in with the knowledge of the fact that this life in the 3rd dimension was choosen for a reason. The lessons had to be learned. And the more I fought it, the more I retarded my progress. So twinsoul/soulmate who cares. You are so right..the people who come to love us, are there to spur on our growth. If we concentrate on the lessons and the clues and don't let the emotions take over, the experience is so much better. Like the recent one I had with Mr. Vertex. We are still friends because I controlled the emotions and his love has as a result very much aided in my soul growth. It was amazing, because I finally just let go, the situation was so overwhelming, so overshadowing that I just let go, and in the process born from pain,...I grew wings that I learned to fly with. Fly above the pain. Fly above the anger and fustrations. Fly staight to the source from which I came. And in that love and light I found peace. An unconditional love that no man could ever give me. And just to think it was all inside of me all along. I just couldnt see it.

"But, you know that, Mars. I've heard you say very similar things. Which is why I like you (and thank you for being even a small part of my life). It is good to hear it coming from another."

So yes I know it girl. I bet we have some amazing Synastry. And your right its always good to hear it coming from another. It helps to ground in the 3rd Dimension, keeps you from floating off from the harshness of reality.
Because now you can use that Mars energy to tough it out instead of wasting it on pointless anger.

"I guess this is just a reminder to be gentle with yourselves when choosing people to love. No, you shouldn't get over your head and just drown in the name of love. But you also shouldn't just confine yourselves to placid lakes and avoid the ocean. Take the time to learn to swim... and then experience the ocean. This was one hell of a thought Mel. You speak of balance here. And that is the key. Because with balance comes harmony and with harmony comes peace.

Love you girl! Right down to your very soul! XOXO

P.S.
We need to expand that small part! lol
I need more ! lol MORE, MORE MORE! lol

I am such an Aries that its sickening!

When I read this:

I felt this rush of energy and then felt something within me heal.

Thank you, my dear soul friend. I can't wait to know you more.

Hi, mars!

I like what you wrote, Melody.

Here's my two bucks:

The outer planets are just as much a part of life as the inner ones. The main problem is that we, as a society (as individuals en masse; as intrinsically social creatures), have yet to understand and assimilate the outer planets to the same extent as we have done with the inner planets. So, while part of our experience corresponds easily enough to the moral and mythical codes we were all brought up on, there is another part which naturally challenges, undermines, and tests our traditional and habitual ways of categorizing our experience. Frailty, as revealed by Neptune; Individuality, as revealed by Uranus; and Destiny, as revealed by Pluto -- all of these are, in actuality, far more powerful and extensive in scope than our present theories allow for. That people, in relation to their ultimate well-being (to what is possible, in keeping with their highest potential), are unimaginably fragile... that people (and their perspectives) are utterly unique and idiosyncratic... and that we are all in the grip of spiritual, psychological, and historical forces which none of us understand (and which none of us are therefor in a position to control, no matter how large the lever we use)... all of this is still on the outskirts of our awareness, floating in a grey mist, on the margins of the world we know, or thought we knew; at least, the world we were raised to believe in. First and foremost, Pluto concerns power; including both that which is within and that which is beyond our conscious control. Pluto is a universal energy concentrated into a universal force which must control or be controlled. It is the evolutionary impulse, and it can only be harmonized with when a person is consciously engaged in the process of evolving. Evolving means allowing present consciousness to be confronted and expanded by the unconscious -- or, one might say, by the world; by realities in the world which we have thus far remained unconscious of (and, so, to some extent, at the mercy of). Pluto rules this process, and guards the gateway between the conscious and unconscious minds; between the world we see and the world we've yet to uncover. Pluto teaches us that we are not in control, provokes us to discover the means by which we are still being unconsciously manipulated (by certain realities of which we remain ignorant), and motivates us to expand our sphere of influence by taking command of the newly aquired possessions of consciousness. When a person, situation, or relationship is significantly Plutonian, its evolutionary potential is immense. It will confront us with karma we didnt even know we had ("good" and "bad"). In some cases, we can decide not to deal with that person, situation, or relationship, and we may be able to postpone those karmic lessons for a while. In some cases, it must be confronted immediately. While it is often wiser to face Pluto head-on, rather than wait for him to ambush you again (who knows if you will be so lucky next time), sometimes the situation is so Plutonian that confronting it head-on would entail something soul-shattering. For instance, in the case of a holocaust. Confronting that much Plutonian force at once, and attempting to purge that much karma at once, can lead to the enlightenment experience, but it can also leave you stranded in the deepest part of hell, if you are not ready to complete that journey. I tend to think that when you are "ready", the trip will be unavoidable, so, while I see the wisdom in attempting to face it, I do not think those people are wise who make haste to meet it head on. Hope some of this made sense. Any resemblance to persons, living or dead, is unintentional and purely coincidental.

Love you.

I have an affinity with horses, too, Mars.

Born in the year (earth) and hour (fire) of the horse...

I often feel like I am a horse, lol, or that I understand them.

They are very proud creatures, aren't they? Full of fire, sensitivity, and grace.

Most of all, they are lovers and emblems of freedom. Freedom and strength.

Thanks for adding your thoughts hsc

Up until the last couple sentences I wanted to say that I thought the same but so admired the excellent and confident eloquence of your phrasing of "my" thoughts. When I read this sentence though... "I tend to think that when you are "ready", the trip will be unavoidable, so, while I see the wisdom in attempting to face it, I do not think those people are wise who make haste to meet it head on." I had a big smile and the immediate urge to tease you about determinism. Isn't it ALL unavoidable? I wanted to say. But I agree with you in spirit. A battered woman should not say, "Well, I'm dealing with Pluto, so it's ok if he punched me" and then just continue to try to "deal with" the energies/meet them head on. And of course we should never encourage her to drown in such a situation.
I also liked that you mentioned those who invite such energies into their existence unconsciously. Unconsciously filling yourself with Plutonic energy is like attaching anchors to yourself before going for that swim.

My other dear and eternal soul friend...
thanks again for your thoughts.

(also, I saw your other pictures late last night and the only reply I could think of was, "Don't make me Moderate you!!!" :^D I liked them. The first one especially, and the one you left best.)

Hi HSC!
Thanks for that pic!
Love it too...

And thanks for this thought:
"They are very proud creatures, aren't they? Full of fire, sensitivity, and grace.

Most of all, they are lovers and emblems of freedom. Freedom and strength."

That is exactly how I feel about them. I guess I relate to them because I too am a free spirit (Sagittarius Moon) , full of Aries' Fire, Pisces' Sensitivity and Grace, and Scorpios Strength.

Thanks Melody! I really need this info as I feel I'm riding a similar wave. I really feel a connection to learning from One's wisdom as well. I'm feeling a Love/Hate relationship with the Pluto/Neptune/& Uranian energies that I collided with last year. I embrace the fact that it cracked my shell and initiated my transformation. For me, the re-birthing process is pretty painful though. I guess I'm also shocked how playful spirit is, and I feel like I am being challenged to face and live my truths and desires. How ridiculously blindsided I felt, to myself. Well, the light has been shone and now I've got to face some hard stuff. I don't want these lessons to come at me again. Pluto linked to Destiny...I never made this connection but that makes sense to me. So, I believe in Pluto's power. I'll witness to the powers of Neptune and Uranus as well. I've got so much "energy" lately it's not safe for me to leave the house sometimes. I'm like a magnet that attracts some strange stuff. All I can say is I truly know "good grief."

Beautiful poem

I am still a little new to astrology and would love a little bit more insight into this complex planet.
In our current synastry chart my partner and I have:

My Sun trine his Pluto

My Mercury square his Pluto

My Mars square his Pluto

My Pluto conjunct his Jupiter

Does this translate into a lot of heavy "weight" or transformation on our relationship? Which side feels it more? How would it affect these personal planets in particular?
