And I am asking this with respect to romance. Between two lovers, when would you say they they love truly, deeply and when they just love?

I would say there are three types in this: When the lovers are positive signs (Fire/Air), negative signs (Water/Earth), or one of them is positive sign and the other negative. The type of emotions involved are different.

To me Loving is indistinguishable from Knowing. When you love and respect the someone you know intimately and deeply no matter how soft, tender or vulnerable they are on the inside, no matter what flaws they possess and you are aware of the areas they are hurt and you are gentle on these areas and you truly care for them and you have faith in their inherent strengths (everyone possess some inherent strengths that is either latent or dormant). If there is deficiency in any of these qualities then it is not true love.

What I would like to know is:

If you miss a person so much that being away from them is painful for no rational reason, then can it be called true love?

If your heart beats fast when they are near, again for no rational reason, then can it be called true love?

If you believe naturally they must also fall in love with you just because you are falling in love with him/her and you are unable to believe/comprehend any other possibility, and you keep wondering "he/she must also must love me, because I love him/her" and you wonder it does not make any logical sense, then can it be called true love?

If you cannot imagine a life without them, you cannot live without him/her, though all reason tells you it may not be possible, but you find it impossible to accept it emotionally, then is it true love?

In other words, what are the "symptoms" of true love? What are the "symptoms" of what is not true love?

anyone you feel you "cannot live without" is not a love-object but an addiction. the addiction is within you but you paste it on them...of course we all "need" other people, but not to make us whole or happy, only to complement us, interact and "commune" in the sense of community.

love is being glad someone is in the world whether with you or not. it is happiness in their presence, but not necessarily depending on their presence. it is something you give away without looking for a return. it is acknowledgement that we are one and the other is free to fulfill themselves. it is forgiveness of past "errors" but not to the extent of being a doormat...

When you love and respect the other person so much that you so deeply want them to feel true happiness and have a wonderful life - whether it's with you or not.

True love is when you are able to see beyond your ego, and act according to the karmic agreement you made in the Spiritual World.

So, that your able to fight when its the time to fight, able to sacrifize when its the time to sacrifize, able to let go, when is the time for letting go...etc.

For me, that is unconditional or true love.

I agree with everything of what all of you said about True Love. What I am curious to know is what is the "signature" of true love? What are specific body languages, thoughts, emotions and beliefs that are usually associated with a person who has fallen in True Love? I have my own ideas but I would like to hear what others have to say.

Love is when you love someone by who he/she is, including the flaws.

Love is putting effort to understand each other even if we don't understand each other at first.

Of course it's really great when someone could deeply understand us even without words, and be there in the right time when we need him/her. Most of us often dream about this, sometimes to the point of illuding ourselves. But people are different no matter how similar we are. And people can't be there in the right time for us all the time. Yet the very effort they put to understand each other shows how much they care for each other. And I believe that's more precious than already sharing a deep psychic connection.

e one is different and have different notions abt love

i dont believe in any global five signs that can tell its true love

not e one feels weak in knees, not e one experiences that thunder bolt connection....e one has his or her own definition of wht love is...but to me its mostly our own notions, our own biases, our own criterions....oh the person who will be right for me will smell this way, will understand me without me saying any thing

we develop all these notions, based on wht we hear and experience,,,movies, novels, our friends telling us this is how they felt etc etc

but i personally tend to agree more with comica23.....
that having psychic connection and given chemistry probably is not as admirable....as when two people are willing to wok on developing that understanding

Love to me is many things. A true test of love is during those hard times to see if it will and can endure. It is also as mentioned accepting flaws, understanding and helping each other.
