I've been studying angular synastry lately and as I knew the birthtimes of my last two partners I checked up on their charts. I noticed something interesting...

My chart ruler = Uranus
DSC ruler = Sun

Guy #1 - my Sun opposing his Uranus 1 deg 10 minute orb

Guy #2 - his Sun opposing my Uranus 3 deg 40 minute orb

now what makes this REALLY interesting...

Guy #1 chart ruler = Mercury
DSC ruler = Jupiter

in our synastry:
my Mercury square his Jupiter - 1 deg 10 minute orb (same orb degree as sun opp uranus!)

Guy #2 chart ruler = Venus
DSC ruler = Pluto

in our synastry:
his Venus opposing my Pluto - 0 deg 25 minute orb
I think is our most exact aspect, and his Mars is also making this aspect (mars co-rules Scorpio, his DSC, along with Pluto) .. he has Venus/Mars conjunct within 29 seconds - not minutes, seconds!

I'm sure this has been written about on LL before, as your chart ruler is also considered a personal planet... but can't find any threads and I am not sure if there is a search function for the forum

Has anyone else noticed aspects like this in their synastry? If so, please share!!

Now I'm not saying that these were easy aspects to deal with (wish they had been trines or even conjunctions) but perhaps can point to why we sometimes won't give a second glace to someone who we have a venus opp pluto with (and there will be a lot of those!) and why with someone else it is so significant?

PS.
Something else I noted:

Guy #1
His ASC ruler trine my ASC ruler - his Mercury trine my Uranus
(5 deg 28 minute orb)

Guy #2
My IC/MC rulers = his ASC/DSC rulers = Venus/Pluto - perhaps adds significance to the Venus opposing Pluto aspect too?

His ASC ruler opposing my ASC ruler - my Venus opp his Uranus (4 deg 32 minute orb)

Another thing!
Our DSC ruler synastry .. even though there were wiiiide orbs:
Guy#1 Sun/Jupiter - in sextile signs (double whammy) (7 deg 18 min and 6 deg 20 min)

Guy#2 Sun/Pluto - in quincunx signs (double whammy) (16 deg 6 min and 10 deg 38)

You should look up all of DD's old posts--she is onto some really interesting insights re: chart rulers, and their significance in synastry.

Thanks Lucia

Where is the search function ?? I have looked everywhere for it and can't seem to find it ... suffering from male pattern blindness lol

Hi MsCandeh,

I've noticed a pattern regarding angles/rulers with the guy I am currently involved with, and I do believe it gives our connection an added closeness and easiness of being with one another. We have a really nice bond.

My chart ruler- Mercury
My desc ruler- Jupiter

His chart ruler- Mercury
His desc ruler- Jupiter

We are both Gemini ascendants. I have a tight Mercury-Sun conjunction in Gemini, he has a tight Jupiter-Sun conjunction in Aquarius and they are trine by 4-5 degrees. His Mercury is trine my Jupiter too (1.15) and square my Asc-Dsc line (2.37). His Jupiter is conjunct my MC (3.14). The ruler of my Sun is opposite the ruler of his Sun (2.10). Both our MCs are ruled by Uranus, and ICs by the Sun. Another side note- we each have a Saturn-Mars conjunction on top of an angle.

Not sure if all of that is relevant to your point- I'm getting sleepy and unable to think completely straight

hey geemeeni

thanks for replying Yes that sounds like what I was getting at lol

Guy #2

My progressed Sun (my 7th ruler) is conjunct his natal Sun (16 Gemini)
My progressed Venus (his ASC ruler and my IC ruler) is conjunct his natal Jupiter (14 Gemini) (his progressed DC ruler)
My progressed IC is 14 Gemini ... which is conjunct his Jupiter and almost conjunct his Sun.

My progressed Venus (his ASC ruler) is trine his natal Pluto (his DC ruler)

His progressed Mars (co-ruler of his DC Scorpio) is conjunct my natal Sun (my DC ruler)

Our progressed rulers are:
Me: ASC/DC = Neptune/Mercury
IC/MC = Mercury/Jupiter

Him: ASC/DC = Mercury/Jupiter
IC/MC = Venus/Mars

Our progressed Mercuries (my pDC/pIC ruler and his pASC ruler) are sextile (thats nice!)

My progressed Neptune (my pASC ruler) quincunx his porgressed Mercury.

His progressed Neptune (14 Sag) (my pASC ruler) conjunct my progressed MC (14 Sag). This opposes my progressed Venus (14Gem) (his pIC ruler and ASC ruler, my IC ruler) and my progressed IC (14 Gem), which is conjunct his natal Jupiter (14 Gem) (his pDC ruler, my pMC ruler) noticing that all of this occurs at the degree of 14 Gemini/Sag. His natal and my progressed Suns (my DC ruler) which are conjunct aren't far away at 16 Gem. His sidereal Sun is conjunct my natal Sun within a degree

I will spare you all the pain of going on!

We are inseperable. *sigh* ... not necessarily a good thing either I don't think ... considering we broke up ... we still see each other/speak every day!

In fact he just rang me then as I type lol

I think in synastry these connections can't be taken lightly.. even the progressed connections.

Yes, the rulers of the angles, especially ASC and DESC nearly always make strong synastric aspects in relationships.

I just found an old thread of mine again. Not sure if it is of interest to you. Well maybe.

Just ignore that title aobut Twinsouls and Soulmates; I guess these ruler aspects are appearing in any relationships, no matter how you label them. Probably also in intense friendships.
