Her moon is in Pisces so he seems perfect for her.
Your chart is like mine... your sun square your moon. Then whoever makes contact with your moon (emotions) squares your sun. It looks like you two have a lot of squares and a lot of challenging energy where new guy's sun conjunct her moon gives her a feeling of emotional security. Fast relationships like that rarely work out in the long term, it just indicates that she deeply needed some emotional support and security that she was not feeling with you. This isn't necessarily your fault and there might not have been anything you could have done about it. You two simply didn't fully vibe with one another. There were good things, and learning experiences, but you weren't the perfect match for this lifetime. This guy probably isn't either, but he is emotionally for her, which is what she is desperately needing right now so what she will run toward... like a hungry person to ANY food. It takes time to know if all the other connections are there and often they are not, but she could have gotten lucky.
I would guess that even though her Pisces/water moon was at home with your Scorp/water sun as well, Scorp is a little too deep and rough for Gemini. The difference is easy to see... you couldn't imagine starting another relationship so soon and she jumped right in. The synchronicities and good vibes came from your water sun trining her water moon. water=emotion/psychic
