The title will probably bring a, "duh" response, but I've witnessed this in action in my own life, ever since my sister got engaged (and just got married). The engaged woman seems to automatically be more respected, and protected by others, than the single person is (that would be me).

It's damned insulting and annoying.

personally I see us single women looking like we are threatening to other "taken" women...one less woman means one less threat. stupid...

Funny how that works isn't it?? My mother is like that with me now. Both of my sisters r married and now that I'm divorced, my mom thinks I'm vulnerable and can't survive on my own. The last 2 yrs she called me to double check and make sure I renewed the plates on my vehicle. So I pointed it out to her and asked if she did that with my sisters and her response was well my sisters have a backup plan. I said wtf does that mean. She said they're married! Sighhhh......I love her dearly but this irritates me to NO end. Since when does a single woman (ok to b fair, either gender) need to b married in order to function as a normal human being??? Whatever. That's such a cop-out.

*edited* I just turned 33 last month. Ummm pretty sure I know to renew my plates every yr. I've had a vehicle ever since I turned 18. But hey since I'm not married I guess I need reminders or something or I might not make it as an adult or I might just fall off the face of the earth bc I'm SINGLE.

You are a Virgo Sun/Aries Ascendant too?!!?!

YIPPEE!!
Nice to find my same combo out there
Yes, and I find it insulting when people think I am helpless cause hey, Aries influenced people are of the mindset, "Anything you can do, I can do better" ....hehe

Married or not, Aries-influenced people can take care of themselves, we just have a deep appreciation for a synergistic partner when they can hold their own.

I am finding as the baby boomers are getting older and our grandparents are passing on, things are changing.

Marriage is not looked upon as it used to be.

Thank GOODNESS!

Actually, I was thinking that people (like my sister), were automatically raised in status above me and others who are not engaged or married. It's like people become more protective of them, and nobody had better disagree with them even once, on anything!

Ah I c now. I understand that. My mom does that too to me. She doesn't question either of my sisters on their decisions, just me. Pi**es me off sometimes.
