I guess most people would prefer 1st, 5th, 7th, or 8th house overlays. My boyfriend and I share 4th house synastry overlays. My moon falls in his 4th house while my sun, mercury, venus, and pluto fall in his 4th house. (My sun is also conjunct his IC.) We felt so at ease with each other the first time we met and we still feel the same way. He kinda feels like 'home'. Because this 4th house connection, we often spend a lot of time in each other's homes and attend a lot of family gatherings. Ours is a quiet kind of love. I should be thankful that we have this wonderful synastry overlay, but I am somewhat jealous of his 8th house and 5th house overlays with his exes. Seems like they had tons of fun.
I'd like to know if anyone has or had the same (4th) house overlay. Did it feel the same way?

Hello Fire_girl!

You can generate bi-wheel charts at www.astro.com. Just go to Extended Chart Selection and choose Synastry (if I remember correctly ) from the drop down menu. House overlays are fun!

Once you have a bi-wheel chart, you can check out the where your partner's planets fall on your houses. They say it's kind of like a 'permanent transit'. Here's a very interesting article: http://www.cafeastrology.com/synastry_house_overlays.html

I think having fourth house overlays are great!

My 2nd house cap stellium falls in my b/f fourth house. And I can relate a lot to what you said. We both feel at home with eachother. He's the only man I've dated where it truly feels comfortable to be in his arms.

He doesn't have any planets in cap (just astroids), and my fourth house (sun and NN) falls in his empty sixth (not all that exciting astrology wise). So if you both have fourth overlays, I can only imagine how magnified the affects must feel!

And though I can relate a little to the jealousy...4th is still great...like aspects of the moon! It's warm, nurturing and safe. After some bad relationships...isn't this what we all want for a lasting relationship...feelings of stability.

Yes fifth has its romance but is it really lasting? 7th is more intellectualized anyway...and eighth can have too much intensity.

You might want to also consider the signs there in. Fire or water can add more flair for romance...earth might even bring a good sense of humor to the aspects. Mutuability or cardinal can add energy as well.

Wow! Thanks eyes_like_pisces! That was really helpful. I do think we're both blessed to have this kind of synastry overlay and you're definitely right -- I guess I'd rather have a stable relationship more than anything else.

I experienced 7th and 8th house overlays with other guys. Yes, with the 7th house overlay, love was more intellectualized than 'felt'. The 8th was too 'all-consuming'. There was passion, but it drained me.

Why do I feel jealous of my bf's 8th house overlay with his ex? My scorpio stellium is probably to blame. I want him to love me intensely (or as intensely as I think he did with his ex), but I got the 4th house overlay anyway. Sometimes being a venus in scorpio with venus/pluto conjunct can be a boon and a bane. Ugh!

I like 4th overlays. I think 7th overlays are overrated. It's also the house of conflict and enemies. If it ends, it will probably be very very bad.

8th I like too.

5th is not appealing to me much. It's just a sex house in relationships. Well, i take that back. 5th can be fun and playful (not in regards to sex only) but my 5th is virgo and that squares my venus and moon and i don't like that.

Ill never do 12th again, where ppls planets fall in My 12th, and i may not do where my planets fall in their 12th either. It's bad. I think 12th is the worst of all actually followed by 6th but the 6th can work out better than 12th.

My favorite house overlays are (in no particular order) 4, 8, 9 &11.

I don't have much experience with 3rd bc cancer is there for me and I don't like cancer men romantically and i don't think I've had anyone important romantically with cancer anything, Though I've had women i was close with that were cancers, and some of my favorite ppl were cancer women, but were not talking about platonic relationships. I 'm unsure about the 10th too for the same no-experience reason....no one with anything in that sign I can recall ring important. 2nd..just don't like gem guys/placements romantically either but have had so many bffs that were gem. So interesting how romantic and friendship can be so different -- you'd think if you love one sign you'd love them as both...

I also don't like a lot of conjunctions and I realllly dislike square relationships and i think its important bc it will show which house overlays you'll really like. I like trines and sextiles mostly. It's probably the same reason I like 4th overlay bc its relaxing and secure, not volatile and annoying. I like things to feel nice and relaxing and calm, otherwise I'm unhappy, quiet and brooding and cant relax and can only keep thinking of how I need to leave the person because I'm so miserable. 9th and 11th are also relaxing houses, read: not volatile and chaotic houses. 8th is good for obvious reasons but also bc it will mean my moon and Venus are getting hit by conjunction.

I think it's very good 4th house overlay. Probably both you would like to have a house together and most of all it would be very significant relationship, more than 5th or 8th house overlay.
4th house is angular house and much more important than 5th and 8th. It's out private, hidden, most emotional space, our soul.
And conjunctions to angles could be seen as the mundane points:
Asc - Aries - Mars point
Desc - Libra - Venus point
IC- Moon point
MC - Capricorn - Saturn point.
So at the and your sun conjunct his IC is almost like sun - moon synastry aspect.
Wish you all the best!

Yes I was reading that. I think I'll have to print out that article along with my synastry chart.

Great thread!

I was thinking that if the bf was a Taurus or a Cancer (or had a lot of that energy), then the love that meant the most to him would be a 4th house type of love anyway and 8th house action might be more uncomfortable. I guess a Taurus is attracted to the Scorp (opposite sign) energy but might not be comfortable in choosing that as a life partner etc. It really is a matter of knowing the chart of the other person and knowing what they like and what calls to and soothes their soul... and if they are even the type to enjoy a soothed soul. Some people just want excitement and to burn burn buuuurn!!! except during rare emotional transits where they wish for a partner. Complicated stuff, but whatever it takes to get to know our loved ones...
Someone with heavy Virgo energy might feel a 6th house partnership is a dream come true, where an Aries energy person might find it confining and only like it if the partner was happy to be the housewife who serves or something along those lines. There are so many possibilities!!! My 8th house is ruled by Mercury and I must have an intelligent man to be deeply satisfied... so that takes care of that 8th house need if he has planets aspecting my Mercury. The best I've felt is the Mercury conjunct Mercury... where I feel so misunderstood by everyone else on this planet... this person (from a different generation of Mercury) just got me immediately. Some things are just meant to be for our growth. There are some soul friends we need to meet in order to learn enough for the next soul friend, I think. hmmmm... just rambling now... like I said, good thread!!

IC contacts are really great AND creepy. I once fell in love (at first sight) with a guy whose sun is exactly conjunct my IC. I felt like I knew him from somewhere. O_o
