The more a person advances mentally and spiritually, the further he distances himself from the norm, from average interests and values; therefore, the smaller his chance of finding someone with whom he can have satisfying interaction.A lot of mystics have advanced the notion that when a seeker achieves a certain level of mastery, he just won't be plagued by mundane things like the need for human interaction. Well, my moment of satori hasn't come yet, so I can't say whether that's true or not, at least for myS-elf. And in the meantime, being extremely different from everyone I meet just makes this Libra Sun incredibly, incredibly, incredibly lonely. Wat do?? > inb4 how egotistical > inb4 go find a group with ppl like urself (got the whole internet here, they don't exist; also i hate groups) IP: Logged |

Vajra, thank you so much for replying.Maybe this is my Dark Night. If so, I wish it was just a night! Bear in mind, if you were around me AFK, you would not think I was an unhappy person. I guess it doesn't take much of a song for me to get past the graveyard...? Ugh, I hate using the phrases everyone else does (I feel like I sound inauthentic if I do), but "everything you've said resonates with me" -- except for that last little paragraph. Only way I can say it is, I know that I know what I know. May I ask what part of Europe you live in, and have you ever been to the United States? IP: Logged |

Yeah, I figured you hadn't had much contact with the States. You don't know how unbelievably shallow people are here.Americans, as a culture, have had it too good for too long. Even a homeless person here lives better than much of the world. There is always a homeless shelter, always a soup kitchen, always some kind of charity to fulfill their needs. (And to fulfill those needs without any significant effort on the part of the needer.) No matter how many levels/layers away from survival-level reality a people positions themselves, that reality is still there, underlying everything. It's still what life is actually about. Contact with bare reality is what wisdom is all about, is it not? Contact with reality is what teaches people wisdom. And here are 300 million people not only out-of-touch with reality, but who don't even know anyone in touch with it. They don't even have an opportunity to learn about it second-hand. IP: Logged | |
