Hi Sue I would say at first glance it's quite an important relationship because there are several (5) Major Arcana cards involved so it's all fairly 'pivotal'.
The querant's in a position of power and control at the moment (Magician) with the ability and the possibility to take things into their own hands and work 'magic' with their situation. Or if we take the relationship itself as the querant then it could be taken to mean that 'it' has a power and a hold over those involved in it.
There's a feeling of being earthed/grounded and being satisfied by that; and new luck surrounding money, health or a new job. Maybe the relationship is connected to one of these things? Or I'd say that the querant is in a position to create these things if they're not already apparent because of the proximity of the Magician card. It's as though all these things are possible at the moment.
There's a merging of opposites happening; a blending of two different worlds/people/elements. A blending and a synthesis. Could also be warning that the querant needs to 'temper' themselves in order to achieve the magic of the Magician and make this relationship (blending of 2 people) work.
3 of swords at the root makes me feel as if there will be conflict and harsh words spoken about this though that will feel literally "like swords through the heart" and I feel they might need to prepare themselves for some pain and heartache if it's not happened already. The good thing is though, these poisonous words have been bottled up and festering, and if they're now being released then that'll be the end of them - they won't be able to hurt any longer. Could also signify a love triangle. There's an awful lot of words/communication surrounding this relationship it seems, and quite tightly, as we have the Ace of Swords in the immediate future. Either way there seems to be a lot to say about this relationship and some of it not so pleasant, but 'sticks and stones' etc.
I think the Emperor being there may mean they've been 'aggressively' in control of things up to now and leading/controlling the direction in a bold way. There is indeed a moment of great control right now (Magician) but looking further ahead (Hanged Man) they may need to surrendor to the process and sacrifice some or indeed all of that control in order to reach the deep insight that the Hanged Man asks of them.
Querant seems to be experiencing some very 'primal' feelings and there's a sense of secrets and sort of clandestine flavour to things (The Moon.) This relationship could be a secret affair or similar? They'd do best to trust their intuition and go with the flow of all these tidal emotions I think. The Moon will light their way through the confusion.
There's a fear of deep emotional pain and heartache (10 of Swords) and of being stabbed in the back. This fear may be somewhat grounded in reality because it's one of those cards that I always find 'does exactly what it says on the tin'... it does promise pain but on the other hand once that's done with, what more can they do to you? The only way is up after such an experience.
Finally after the pain of the 10 of swords, it's a lovely feeling to the outcome card - blossoming and fruitfulness. Contentment and prosperity etc etc.
So I think this is a very 'big' relationship for the querant and one that is certainly not lacking in its fair share of turmoil, however I think it shows that the lows can and will be overcome. Hope that helps?
