I'm not an expert, but have been working with my angels for about 3 years now and things just keep getting better - not perfect, but better.

The book that opened me up to connecting with the angels was brought to my attention by a fellow workmate who I never suspected to be into "that sort of thing"; just oout of the blue one day she said "I've been reading this book, you should read it." So I went and bought it, and never looked back. I've read alot of other stuff since and have many packs of different Angel cards, but this is THE starter book on angels in my opinion - it's called:
Angel Inspiration - How to change your world with the angels - by Diana Cooper. It's a relatively new book so should be available in stores or easy to order in anyway. It's in straight forward language, with many examples of how angels have helped people and some great exercises to fine tune your angel experiences. The author is english and runs angel workshops etc. She has a website dianacooper.com
If you're an internet buyer, you could even get the books and other stuff from her website.
I also read alot of Doreen Virtue, and have alot of her cards. I started meditating with angels using one of her CD's:
Healing with the Angels - How the angels can assist you in every area of your life.
This also is only a couple of years old, so should still be available.

with lots of interesting stuff.
I have a guided angel meditation with the psychic Sylvia Browne, and while I find her fascinating, I do find her voice a tad irritating when trying to meditate, so I wouldn't recommend her personally.

Your Guardian Angel is always with you, sending love, compassion and encouragement to you. It is really helpful to know your angel's name.
You can ask your Guardian Angel for help, support and comfort, or to talk to someone else through their angels. Gold is the angelic colour and it helps your angel to connect more easily with you when you sense, think or visualize that colour around you. Sometimes people do not receive their angel's name because they are trying too hard or thinking too much. relax and try again another time or ask you angel to impress their name upon you when you wake in the morning. A name is a vibration and your angel's name may be simple, complex, ordinary or unusual. If you are given the name of an Archangel, your angel is most likely working under the direction of that Archangel. Just accept your first impression.

*Meditation to connect with your angel and find his name:
1 Make sure you are in place where you won't be disturbed
2 Raise the energy with flowers, candles, incense, angelic/relaxing music etc.
3 Sit or lie with your back straight
4 Ground yourself by imagining roots coming from the bottom your feet and reaching down into the earth
5 Visualize a golden egg of protection surrounding you. For a few minutes visualize breathing in gold and exhaling it to join the egg surrounding you - let your body compeltely relax as you do this
6 Mentally ask your Guardian angel to step into your aura. Expect a physical sensation, or a fragrance, or a feeling of great love (at first I would feel a gentle breeze over me)
7 Ask your angel to put his/her wings around you and hold you. relax into this for a few minutes
8 Ask your Guardian Angel's name. Accept the first name that comes to you
9 Calmly ask for any help you need at this time
10 Thank your Guardian Angel
11 Open your eyes and stretch. Lie still for a few minutes enjoying the release, and love of feeling your angel close-by.

If you fall asleep the first few times, don't worry, it's a process. You could be meeting with your angel astrally and that will still leave you feeling comforted when you wake.

the left card said i should keep track of my dreams, which was exactly what i started to do a two weeks ago but failed to do again recently. i think my angel is saying that i should continue it.

So, cat71, I wrote down your steps on calling my angel and even looked at the books you mentioned online (I have ordered the Diana Cooper one from Amazon). So 3 days ago I get up in the morning and decide to call on my angel through cat71's method. It was amazing meditating like that - so intense. I felt every nerve in my body on end /awake/humming. I could not even feel myself breathing. I had to open my eyes to check that I was still there! A name entered my mind, but I was not sure if that was the name of my angel, truly, or if I just wanted it to be that name. I have enjoyed the experience and asked my angel for guidance. Once I come out of what seems like a trance-like state, I feel so relaxed it takes me a while to "come back" so to speak. I have been experiencing anxiety attacks due to the stress I am under at the mo - I have been made redundant and have been unemployed for the past 4 months - trying times... Since doing this meditation, the frequency of the anxiety attacks has declined. Anyway.....

I decided after 3 days of meditating to call on my angel again, ask him to speak to my sister's angel to help clear her path and give her insight, enlightenment and guidance. Background: my sis has mental issues (bipolar and depression), a chronic disease, and an addiction and has attempted suicide a few times now luckily without success. She is ill, really ill and filled with darkness. So I asked my angel to please intervene and speak to her angel on my behalf. I also said to him, "look, I have only been communciating with you for 3 days! I don't even know if this is your name, I don't know if you actually hear me or even exist, so give me a sign. Any sign. I am always looking for them so please, let me know that you are here, and are who I think you are as I need you so."

Now, I have to point out that my sis and I are rarely in touch now due to her issues, so receiving a text from her is highly unusual. So what happened next is truly remarkable for me. I DO NOT BELIEVE IN COINCIDENCE. I received the foll text from her on the evening of the third day, the same day of my request to my angel:

I av a little angel, shes way up in the sky, Iv told her 2 watch over u, she
replied ok but why? I told her ur my mate n u mean so much to me, she said
she'll take much care of u, n how ur life shud b. So wen u feel the warmth at
night, shes lettin u no shes near, shes right beside u wereva u go, filling ur
life with cheer.

I received my sign. I burst into tears when I read it. It may seem silly to ther people, it's just a text! Yet I know, without a doubt, in my soul, that this is it. I received my sign!! What a gift to receive validation of something that you hope and believe is true. Thank you both again, there are no words to express what I am feeling right now...thank you and blessings and love and light to you!
