Hi Ami

Carrying on from thread yesterday ...Please could you help me figure out my Ascendant?

Sometimes I think it is Aries because I am quite headstrong, impatient and (mentally) adventurous; also I can be hot tempered and irritable at times. My eyebrows and lashes are much darker than my hair colour and quite thick and prominent for a woman - people always used to think I wore mascara when I was very young. I also have the obligatory "scar on the forehead" which is an Aries thing.

BUT .... I could be Taurus rising because I overall I look Taurean. Softish features (though my eyes are strong) - I don't move fast like an Aries. Others tell me that I always APPEAR very relaxed and calm (even if I'm not feeling it), like I am secretly happy about something. I also detest being pushed around.

BUT ... I am not particularly conventional or slow on the uptake, and I have a VERY active imagination - which contradicts Taurus rising traits.

As for "jumping into things". Well ... sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. I'm just not consistent.

So that is why I am confused. I find it hard to see myself from an outsiders point of view!

Attached are 2 chart possiblities....

um... I'll have to send it by email.

I'd rather chew off my own left foot than have my photo on a public forum! (What can I say? Major privacy issues - Moon in Scorpio!)

Where do I find your email?

BTW ... It will probably take me a few days to organize. I don't have any pix of me on my computer, believe it or not. But I have a zillion art graphics and photos of other people!

the way you approach things for first time also reveals ur AC
when you have to do a new task, what do you do? does it excite you and makes u so much impatient that you can't think about anything else or do you go slow and think about all the pros and cons before you have actually pursued that thing?

you said you are inconsistent, even though you have 5 planets in Earth signs, that is an Aries thing. features are mixture of many thing along with sun sign and moon sign.

Ami Anne - I sent some photo's to your email.

Littlecloud - my weight does not fluctuate too badly. When I eat lots of carbs I do put on weight, but can lose it quite easily when I stop.

Love being Aries - Hard question, but I'll try! If there is something on the cards which has long term implications and necessitates a "big commitment", I approach it with extreme caution and I take a long time to weigh up pros and cons. But if something new crops up during the course of everyday life that requires a sudden change of plan, I have no problem in making a snap decision to alter course.

You are so cute,you nut
I can see Aries when I look. Now, we have to see IF you are more like Aries or Taurus in your mannerisms etc.
That should not be hard. I am not saying you could NOT be Taurus but you feel more like Aries to me

What makes you say Aries? I think I'd PREFER to be Aries, as Taurus has a bit too much of a plodder image for my liking!

If it is Aries, then something is making me much more reserved and shy than most Aries rising people. Do you think it could be the heavy Saturn factor in my chart?

I am not a fast talker either - my voice is fairly quiet and I find it difficult to get people's attention especially in a large group, but once (if) I get it am usually quite eloquent and diplomatic and can keep their attention.

Yes Saturn tones down EVERYTHING
I was thinking about this. You seem VERY 8th house stellium.
I am one so I can feel it in others
If an Aries ASC gives you an 8th house stellium ,I think you are an Aries ASC.

A. If there are lots of people, especially strangers, I definitely sit back shyly at first. It takes me ages to feel comfortable.

B. In one-to-one interactions, it is different. I am very curious about people and I connect quickly with them, even strangers. I also find that people are willing to take me into their confidence almost immediately, despite the fact that I rarely give much away about myself. It is not uncommon for strangers to come up to me and start chatting - sometimes they say the damndest things too! I mean, weird personal stuff. I don't mind though, as I find quirky behaviour interesting and I think I am genuinely much less judgemental than most people.

C. Yes, neck is more solid than swanlike. Like Brittany.

Yes, I am also inclined to agree about the 8th house stellium, because instinctively (moon) I am very drawn to and fascinated by the unknown, things that lie "beneath", and that which is taboo, the interplay between dark and light. These things really fire up my imagination (neptune) and they draw me in magnetically. In addition, I am a qualified hypnotherapist specializing in past life regression - which I do as a sideline hobby. I am obsessed with symbolism, myth, meanings behind meanings and esoteric knowledge. Also art containing arcane referencing, symbolism and things that should not normally be there, which make you think. I tend to read words backwards and forwards to find hidden meanings, and love anagrams. Having Aries rising, this could put my Jupiter in the 12th house which makes sense in terms of my spiritual inclinations (I am an avid explorer, spiritually speaking, although my belief system is eclectic to put it mildly) and Saturn in the 11th (feeling inhibited in groups). Mars/Uranus/Pluto in the 5th does make sense as I am driven to create, esp if Sun gemini is 3rd as my work involves books and writing.

BUT .. why have I got a short neck (I'm not a toad though, I hope!!) and why am I so shy and soft spoken? And why do I commit so solidly when I do commit (sometimes I stick to things past the point of insanity - I am like a bulldog once I am in a situation and find it so hard to extricate myself. This is probably why I am so reluctant to commit in the first place - I know I am in it for the long haul, beyond rhyme and reason). That is SO Taurus. Also, although it brings me much pain at times, I am prone to being very idealistic in relationships which could be a moon/neptune 7th house thing. AARGH.

communication style comes from 3rd house not AC
diplomatic? that's not Aries
if you are reserved and shy then may be you are actually not Aries rising, because shy is not our thing, [i am virgo AC and i appear quite shy, but m not]

Well Taineberry
I was thinking that you DO have some Taurus features. However, the degree of the ASC makes a different. If you are in the last part of the Aries ASC degree -wise--you will have Taurus features.
I think the different degrees are called decans.

Good point. Thanks. I'll orientate my chart that way and have a look to see how it works.

This would be my final guess--taking everything in to account--pix and 8th house stellium
I think your ASC is in the last decan of Aries so the last 10 degrees of Aries.
See how that fits.

From the sound of it I give an Aries asc with that Jupiter conjunct it. You made it sound like your weight does fluctuate at least more often than others, so in that case Jupiter is conjunct the asc. What do your eyebrows look like?

Thanks so much guys. You have helped so much.

I am pretty happy now to settle on a birth time of about 2.30am which will make Asc at 16 Aries, and then

1st house : asc Aries - piercing eyes, strong, dark eyebrows and lashes. Very determined to get what I want asap.

2nd house : Sun in Gem (Earn a living through writing, and self-esteem issues are a key factor); Merc and Venus in Taurus (Merc - writing again to earn living, also cautious thinking and speech + Venus - love of luxury and the sensual things in life, a bit lazy when I get the chance). Also all these personal planets including sun in 2nd house plus Taurus influence could be partly why my Aries asc is "slowed down".

4th house - north node - wanting to belong, find a place where I feel at home. Pallas - gender equality in the home.

5th house - Mars/Uranus/Pluto/Ceres/Juno - unusual creative drive and interests, obssesive passion for romance and the creative arts, etc.

6th house - vesta - wanting to help, be of service.

7th house - neptune - idealism in relationships

8th house - moon/vertex - all that scorpio/8th house stuff I talked about earlier.

11th house - Saturn - borderline social phobic. Maybe all the fear and caution and shyness I feel is not about my ascendant, it is about my heavy Saturn which is apex of T-square to moon, neptune, venus and merc.

12th house - Jupiter, near asc. BIG interest in all things spiritual. Weight not a problem, though I have to keep an eye out.
