Hello Starfox,My thoughts, unstructured, and in brief (as I don't have a lot of time right now):
Death: Is usually a period of deep transformation. A death of a part of self, or a very definite chunk of your life, e.g. single life ends with marriage, student life ends with job, a spiritual belief system instills a new sense of self, you realise a talent you never knew you had and it changes your whole path or view of yourself, etc.
Death is essentially a clearing out of the old, which leaves a space for the new, which in your case is whatever the 2 of cups represents. Nice linking there.
So, this period has come to an end.
With the 2 of Cups, I would suspect that the ending is caused by, or for the purpose of a new love entering your life.
This does not have to be a person, it can be anything that you love that when you combine your energy with it/them you create a whole new entity.
You can also view it as a new partnersship, but one that you are emotionally connected to.
It's for this reason that many will view this card as the start of a new love affair, but I prefer to take a broader view of it (or draw more cards around it) to try and decipher whether the emotional connection is to a person, or some other aspect that stirs the heart.
The Empress is essentially a time of fertility.
Again, this can be related to home and family, or love, or also projects, but projects that will generally both lead to material security, and a sense of purpose.
She is the earth mother, whatever she touches will grow. Obviously earth is full of little deaths too (as you saw in your past), but we all know that endings and beginnings are just opposite ends of the snake - hence the snake eating his tail.
She can also present pregnancy, although to move in this direction I would be looking for the Moon, the Sun, and the ace of cups or wands in close proximity, or relevant positions in relation to her.
It's kinda hard to interpret cards when they are not infront of you, I gain much of my information from the feelings I receive when I meditate on the cards, and take time and space with them. For this reason, my readings can take up to 3 hours to complete, so all I am saying is that this is a bit of a stab in the dark, but there may be something in here for you to ponder
