With asteroids, one must do one’s own research, as there can be precious little information available. I have been checking out Pholus in charts and have come to this conclusion. Pholus explodes what it touches. If Pholus touches Chiron, the planet of pain, a person will explode with his pain. If Pholus touches Ceres, the asteroid of unconditional love, the person may be a teacher who gives unconditional love to her students. This was the case in a chart I did. If one persons Pholus touches another persons planet, the Pholus person can make the planet person “explode” in that area. By explode, I mean come forth and break open. I liken it to an infection which comes to a head. Then, it can open and heal.. Each energy is part of being human. One must embrace each part of the chart as one must embrace each part of oneself.

Astrology could be studied for ten lifetimes and one would never plumb the depths of it. It is like the Bible, in that way. Astrology is almost a living breathing entity, as is the Bible. However, I understand Echo from my own chart. I have it conjunct my ASC. My life has been a singular struggle to find my own voice. You see, Echo does not have her own voice. She exists as a shadow for Narcissus. Echo does not care for her own individuality. She only cares to make the object of her dreams, Narcissus, love her. As such, the singular purpose of a human being for development of himself and to go forward in the world, is lost to Echo. Of course, Echo does not have to co- exist with Narcissus in a natal chart. Echo is it’s own Asteroid and has it’s own properties.

I suppose the sad thing about Echo is that she will find a Narcissus, as this is how she views herself, as someone’s appendage. There are no shortages of Narcissus’ when an Echo is looking for one. The Asteroids lie in our unconscious until we dredge them up, usually with the help of Astrology. Many are the Jung archetypes, although I do not see how a therapist can help someone, as profoundly as needed,without the aid of the chart. The chart is like a recipe detailing oneself, as surely as one would need a recipe to make a gourmet meal. Back to Echo,though. I think Echo is a singular factor in depression. If one cannot sing one’s own song, one will be depressed. Echo sings the song of the beloved, not herself. She mourns for the beloved because she does not exist without him. The beloved may have been a parent, and often is. However, the person with the prominent Echo looks for the parent in anyone and everyone.That is the nature of Echo, in my humble opinion.

Echo is paired with Narcissus. I wanted to write about Echo, alone. One woman’s chart had Echo conj the ASC. The ASC is the part of oneself that one takes out in to life. This is as opposed to ones Sun( basic identity) and Moon( deepest heart and emotions). The ASC is a not as deep a part of the person as is the sun or moon. The woman with Echo conjunct the ASC was thwarted from having her own identity by a Narcissistic mother, who humiliated the girl whenever she tried to form any kind of identity separate from the mother. The girl became an echo of other people, mirroring what she had done with her mother. People will repeat old traumas, as a matter of course. They do not want to. This “compulsion” is unconscious. Astrology helped this woman to see what was her “fate” and hopefully, change it. That is the power of astrology. It is like no other tool I have ever seen except the Bible and God, of course, which trump all things.

The Asteroids Echo and Narcissus are fascinating and so timeless. It is the story of Narcissus, who was so in love with himself that he had no love to return Echo, who adored him. In synastry, you will often find these paired asteroids attaching from one persons chart to the other. It is as if one half of the myth calls to the other.

Oh for &*^&^*^^%%^&&^%^&^ i feel it bubbling inside almost all the time. It needs to come out eventually (aka sooooon!), which I guess is why I am setting such a frentic pace to find someone (6 dates in 6 days at one point). I want them to enjoy these intense ....

But ya, it bubbles dear Ami. Sometimes I am just walking down the street and I feel this kick start deep in my soul, within my very being!

Wow, a simple question can lead to complex thoughts.

I think maybe it makes it harder for me to know myself and communicate my own being to the outside world. I always feel I can not properly convey what I feel, about my own thoughts, desires, etc. to the world, because words just are not adequete enough or proper enough to express what it is in my head. If that makes sense.

The dangers are, it makes me struggle with adapating and hard to confront change. (example: I always hate a new co worker, it changes the enviroment, which I have grown so accustom to). It maybe makes me too focuses, mentally, on one thing where as most people would be focusing on multiple things. If that makes sense. Too, single tracked or one tracked or whatever.

I think, socially, it can either make me feel deeply isolated from my surroundings (like at one party I went to recently) or..suddenly, ready to talk to everyone!

(All of what I said, I feel, has to do with my moon in house 3 as well, especially that last part)
