I have a friend who is going through a lot of depression and seems to have many emotion troubles. I would like to know if you see anything in her chart to help me understand any better. She is Leo Sun and Ascendant, as well as Sag Moon and she isn't at all firey (to me). She is more like Eore, with a black raincloud following her everywhere she goes. What is going on with this chart? IP: Logged |

mystical,For emotional issues, look to see what the Moon is doing in the chart. And we see in the chart the Moon (emotions) squares (energy needs to be combined with) Mercury (daily work), indicating a routine of emotional challenges. Mars (being, also anger) conjuncts (energy is combined with) Moon), indicating that there may be anger issues as well. And Pluto (transformation, also power) is also there, making the emotional issues powerfully (Pluto) felt (Moon). And, to emphasize the emotional issues, Moon is focused in the 4th house (emotions) Mooning, Tim IP: Logged |

Thanks Tim, All of your descriptions hold true of her. So the moon is what one focuses in on to understand the emotional tendencies of a person? I guess I should have known that but didn't really know what to focus on. I don't know what gives one a person a "can-do" attitude, a persistence and positiveness or a negative, everything-is-falling-apart attitude. She has the latter. The smallest upsets send her spiralling to the point I really think she could benefit from counseling (which she tried before but says didn't work). I am also confused because obviously I do not really understand the fire element at all. I assumed the more fire a person has, the more determination, will, and positiveness they would have. I have not found this to be the case in reality. Since I only have one planet in fire -- I guess I need better understanding of it's nature.

mystical,You said: quote: I assumed the more fire a person has, the more determination, will, and positiveness they would have.
It might help to think of "fire" as "Identity" (more about the "other" names of elements in step 4 of the link below). So this person has energy that emphasizes their Identity, who they are, what they are, etc. Since this Identity energy modifies Moon (emotions), there is an EMOTIONAL sense of identity. The person become emotionally attached to who they are...or who they want to be. Looking at the elements (e.g., "Identity) can help with understanding the "big picture" of the chart, but to understand individual issues in the chart, the planetary energies need to be looked at on how they interact with the chart as a whole.
