I'm amazed by all the gifts I've been seeing on here! Whether its reading cards, charts, situations, people...it all just completely astonishes me!

Anyway reading through some of the threads on here got me thinking about this and if you're willing to share I'd love to hear it...when did you first start picking up on your abilities and how did you process them and help them to grow?

I guess I should start although I'm not all that interesting haha! My mom started teaching me tarot when I was about 10. I got pretty good at reading into the cards until I turned 12 and began to fear the judgement of others...I didn't pick them up again until about 6 months ago and although I'm still decent, I'm not as good as I was when I was 10 lol.
Sometimes I get "feelings" and I just know something is true or going to happen, its a surge through my entire body and it makes my eyes water. I have no control over it at all!
I have deja vu constantly but its completely useless, like seeing a burrito or watching my professor walk around during a lecture, saying random things...okay, I don't know why I'm admitting this its actually sad haha!

Anyway! Like I said my story isn't too interesting, but I'd love to hear yours if you're comfortable with sharing!

My grandmother used to read cards, using the gypsy card deck, or Baraja Espanola as it is called in my culture. The deck is similar to playing cards w four elements; but these are good coins instead of diamonds, rods instead of spades, and cups instead of hearts. The swords remain unchanged, no major arcana and inclusion of the royal cards- female princess instead of male jack, queen, knight, and king.

The gypsy spread utilizes a lay out of all the cards within the deck, in a square formation. The reading is done by feeling out the message in the entire square. I started reading for fun w these cards as a girl and then stopped as my most religious family members didnt approve ):

I've forgotten some of the gypsy card meanings, but am wanting to buy a new deck and start again. I started reading a tarot about age 19, same time when the nature spirit practices of grandmother were awakened again in my soul.

Grandmother was gifted at laying the hands (similar to reiki), herbal remedy preparation & natural ointment creation, gemstone healing, and empathy.she combined these practices w traditional Catholic worship/ritual, which went over well a the family/community as she was very passionate about her faith.

As I was not as certain of my Catholic upbringing, my natural inclination towards following grandmother's footsteps was not as appreciated. I had to be very careful about expressing my interests, until reaching adulthood/independence

Now that I fully follow my heart/spirit, am very happy w my path. Currently I'm studying w an elder, learning about the path of shaman from a native american tradition... it feels amazing to be growing spiritually. I'm an empath and have experienced strong intuition & prophetic dreams since childhood.

Well, I first was interested in astrology alone. Then I wanted to learn more about people. So, one day while I was surfing the web I stumbled across the meaning of the clairs. I wanted to develop mine more so I started trying to tune in. When i realized my answers were actually being answered and things weren't just happening by coincidence.

Story time!
Once when I was like 8 I think. I was standing in my kitchen at my old house and felt someone bang on the floor. They were underneath it! They said, "LET ME OUT OF HERE!" It was a male voice. I felt him come up through the floor. He was an angry ghost and the "spirit" that would haunt me for the rest of my life. Well, that night at least.

Another Story!
When I was like 12-14 I was sitting at my computer (again at my old house) and it was about 2am (I remember this) and I saw a male ghost walk behind me. His shadow was on the wall. He was dress in a suit and walked very calmly. I turned around and no was there.

Another Story! (yay )
I also saw a little girl there. I felt that she was raped by a male figure. Maybe her father or something. He was fat and pretty gross looking. They were dress from the early 1900s. I think she died of illness or a fire. I think I'm mixing it up with the next "story".

Ok, I'm not even going to say anything now you get it!
I also saw a woman lean over me and smile. She was dress like the 1800s. She must of had children because I could feel their presences too sometimes.

I also had an out of body experience. I was walking and then all of a sudden I felt my spirit walk forward. I could feel that it wasn't in my body any more.

Well, those are all of my "encounters". I know you might be thinking "what does this have to do with what was asked?" It has everything to do with it! They lead me into wanting to find out more about the "forbidden" fruit.

NICE TOPIC! I'm sorry I missed this! So, my story:

I was born with a black veil. Some would say caul or cawl but, they are different. The caul is a thin layer of skin on the baby's face when it is born. It is suppose to be taken off and cared for in a special fashion. A veil DOESN'T come off. 2 of my daughters were born with it also. Anyway, all my life I would hear a voice in my head or get a feeling or look at something and just KNOW. I would be told about being born with a veil but, no other information was forthcoming. My mother's family wasn't very religious, so, in turn, neither was she when I was a child. My father's family was the opposite - because they were born with GIFTS!! My Great-Grandmother was killed by her nemesis, my Great-Grandfather's lover. She used black magic to do kill her. So, I think my Grandmother was scared and didn't want to end up like her mother, so, she went to the church - and stayed until her last breath several years ago. She had 14 children. My father was the 13th, so, he came in on the tail end of when things were REALLY crazy in that household of 12+. And my Grandmother, so I'm told was REALLY into church then, so, she attempted to embed it into my father at a young age. He has the gift of prophetic dreams. He went along with it for a while but, it didn't last.
By the time I burst into the world he was into JW. I don't have anything nice to say right now so, I'm gonna move along with my story...
So anyway that was some background history. So, around the age of 18 I met a girl who I became close friends with. She introduced me to a whole new world of things in Spirituality. In NYC they call them Botanicas. I could go in there and get all kinds of books to read and find things out about Orisha's, Voodoo, The 7 African Powers, The Santeria even Catholicism and how it connects to all of the other religions. I even found some love spells. I learned early what black magic was. And stayed CLEAR away - AFTER learning my lesson through use of a "love spell." -_-
When I was 22, I met a woman through a mutual friend and was able to tell her things about her daughter's death and a lawsuit settlement half an hour or so after meeting her. The information just flowed. It's the same voice I'd been hearing as a child - my own. Yet, I know it's not me talking, it's someone else but, WHO? I also know their is more than one of them. I can also hear some people's thoughts. That has to do with being an empath though. As well as their emotions. I was in therapy today, and a woman was sitting 10 feet from me getting something done to her hand. As SOON as her face started to frown up I could feel her pain. Not in my hand. More of in my heart and... feelings. I started to cry after about 2 minutes because she got louder with her complaints of w/e he was doing to her hand. And she WOULDN'T cry, so, I cried for her.
Another instance was when my friend and neighbor's husband passed away. I went up there to console the family and I was the only one crying. Because everyone else was holding back their emotions. So, I cried for them.
And now here I am at LL trying to hone my gifts and reach out to as many people as I can. Help as many as I can. And await my next "instructor"...

*EDIT* ... OR "instructions..."

Hi leap,

Did a particular Orisha call to you? I've been told Yemaya is around me, and have a small image of her on my prayer space I like reading about Santeria & voodoo, know a few priests of the path. I just kind of combine different spiritual aspects into my own path, the Saints and Angels are very much a part of my eclectic self

love botanicas & occult shops, there is one near my work office. I enjoy going in during my lunch hour, and going through the different incenses & oils. The card reader from that shop tells me my energy is very strong, and once felt conpelled to bless me w her own St Joan of Arc miniature photograph.

The reader is a medium and said she felt I should have Joan's image... That my own spirit is one of a warrior, standing up against oppression etc. The funny thing is Joan has always called to me... I cried upon reading her story & eventual execution ): anyhow, Joan's image is with me both at work/home along w Archangel Michael.

Totally agree about black magick... Though my view is magick just is, and the intent of caster is what may be perceived as negative/positive. Imposing on free will is a definite no in my book.. Not good for anyone especially caster who may think he/she is obtaining what is desired.

I don't believe/subscribe to the law of three, but do think there is some sort of karmic justice in play and that imposing upon free will brings very negative consequences. Anyhow I stay away from that diet of work, but definitely enjoy cleansing my home w sage/salt and working w gemstones/herbs etc.

Hey PhoenixFire! For some reason, Chango, always terrified and awed me in the same breath. But, idk, I just don't think I should be in anything set. I feel like each group can help me re-member a little more.

And that whole free will thing. Yea, I learned my lesson EARLY. And I'm glad I did. I'd NEVER want to make anyone do something against their will. And I didn't know when you engage in love spells, that's pretty much what you're doing. It didn't help that my friend was doing the same thing and was doing it for idk HOW long. So, I thought I was gravy. Buuuuuuut, what's good for the goose is NOT always good for the gander.
I LOVE incense, oils, candles, herbs and crystals. I'm trying to get deeper into them.

way cool, leap Chango is associated w Saint Barbara, warrior Saint that is really cool, like being a warrior of light/light worker/healer

For sure, manipulating free will is very chaotic and hurtful. Doing a general spell to attract friends or add romance, or one for assisting in releasing negative blocks within the self are good. Casting a spell to break up a couple, or bring someone in specific are not.

When I visit the botanica for my incense/oils/candles, it astonishes me to notice how many works of manipulation exist. Spell casting is big business, the shop Santera has daily orders for spells from heartbroken patrons. I don't know, I'd be afraid to do those types of castings..

. It isn't right (for me) and hurts the patrons further, as they are investing $ and energy into luring someone who doesn't love them on a soul level (or else they would be with them without a spell). I don't know.. Just think it'd be much better to help the patrons to do their own work in improving themselves and finding love within. Lol but then there wouldn't be as much money/business.

Love stones too, my favorites are amethyst for protection/third eye and moonstone for feeling in touch w my female energy. I'm looking for a good comprehensive book on stones/correspondence. For herbs and natural remedies I like Scott Cunninghams herb encyclopedia

I don't really have a special story. Not even a cool relative with whom I could train or anything.

I've been reading tarot since I was 18. I gave up for a few years because someone stole my last deck and tarot decks don't grow on trees lol. Four years later, my ex gave me a tarot deck and I've been reading since.

I interpret dreams, analyze handwriting, have precognitive dreams, can see/feel auras, can mimic auras. I don't know anything definite about myself, my abilities, or whatever. I think study of the occult is merely so I can understand who I am while also helping others along the way.

Metalaphrodite, that is really cool concur, studying the esoteric or anything else helps us understand ourselves

Would love to learn how to see auras, that seems like a very helpful skill. Have you ever come across a person w a black or blocked aura? Are you able to pick up aura energies from typed words? I know of a person who sees glimpses of color, from the words another types online in chat/forum/etc.

Perceiving an aura for me is much easier than seeing them, but I'm also timid with seeing them sometimes.

I have seen a picture once of my boyfriend's friend and her dark aura was so strong on one of her pics that I felt choked just by looking at it. It was a happy outdoors picture, but the aura said all that needed to be said. My bf says she has a lot of mental health issues, including suicidal tendencies.

I can easily sense energy from words. I have a better time sizing up a person's energy if speaking one on one. I used to think it was purely context clues, but it's that combined with feelings about stuff.

These stories are so interesting! Would love to hear from more people. It is always inspiring to hear of how psychic abilities manifest and how they can be used to help others.

I seem to have a psychic link in my family... my grandma and her grandmother both possessed/possess some sort of heightened intuition, prophetic dreams, seeing spirits, etc. My grandma, still living, had dreams to tell the future for years and years, was able to contact spirits and saw a spirit as a youth, and was very interested in astrology but never got into it as deeply as I have.

I feel that I have something similar to both of these family members. I have also had dreams that tell the future, and are extremely symbolic and vivid - I'm one of those intense dreaming types, very Neptunian. I met a psychic once at around 13 or 14 and after seeing all she could do with tarot cards I got my own deck. After only a few years of practice I found myself very psychically attuned to the cards and have been able to give very accurate readings. I can easily sense things about clients and people who ask requests.

I do my best, however, with astrology. It's truly my fortune telling gift, and as a more religious person now, something I feel less 'guilty' about vs. putting so much faith in the cards... since astrology feels more natural to me at times. I can just sense so much about a person and easily connect the dots when it comes to charts of all kinds. It's definitely an intuitive thing. It's also from being very Uranian. But above all, I enjoy it because it makes more sense out of this chaotic world. I feel so existential now! LOL
