I know it should be on the other forum, but as it happens this one is more popular Anyway, as you know I come from a family in which cartomancy has run for a number of generations. And I also have this visceral sensitivity for colors and geometry. I have my rider, but I want more. I want something to go straight to my heart, not my head. My mother said I shouldn't touch anything Aleister Crowley came anywhere near, and his deck might be one of the few tasteful ones I've seen (and frankly about 2/3 of the cards to go to my heart while all others seem objectionable). I looked at the hermetic deck and its all the same, most cards are heart wrenchingly beautiful but others are well not so cool, I can't relate to them at all (and besides I couldn't figure out if Crowley pinched everything from this one or if its his imagery that's been borrowed, there's some weird story surrounding this "1970s recreation of the first golden dawn esoteric deck") I studied art, so there is no way I can consider Ciro Marchetti talented or even consider him an illustrator...
To cut a long story short - is there anything out there for me? Any advice welcome IP: Logged |

Hey Andstuff, I am sure there is. Really depends on the themes that you feel related to. There are hundreds of decks. How about the Osho Zen Tarot? Intense colours, geometrical feel to it... Could be something for you. Good luck searching! IP: Logged |

Hi TwirlYeah I know this one, but it's not my kind of thing either Besides I am very much into Golden Dawn, so any other names given to the cards feel slightly... not quite right. http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/cards/osho-zen/ I understand "possibilities" is 2 wands apparently? For me will always be Lord of Dominion. And I don't mean to offend anyone, but the imagery is so not me, see above, I studied art IP: Logged |

Lol. In that case I think there is only one thing to do: make your own deck If you can draw and paint that's the most powerful deck you'll ever own Ps: I'm not a deck collecter. I really love Rider-Waite. I own several others, but mostly use them in meditation. I think it's different for everybody. Also a new deck doesn't have to be perfect. You can start by working with a 'new one' just to see how it feels or as an extra.

New suggestion: http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/cards/holy-light/review.shtml From the review: This profound, powerful deck honors classic art and astral values (Masonic lodges of Europe) with thought provoking scenes in each of the cards. Using digitally mastered art from some of the visionary masters of the 1600's IP: Logged |
