These are new cards, so I'm not sure how well I'm connected so far...
But what I'm getting is that he couldn't get you/can't get you out of his mind and he wanted to see if there was still some potential there. Basically what happens when someone contacts you out of the blue ;-) He just wants to see if he indeed 'missed the boat' or that what happened then, was okay. So he went over the past in his mind.
PS) I don't think anything will come of this by the way. This are just his feelings currently.
