Realistically? Too much. From his viewpoint? No clue.

Did he recently let an emotion or thought slip? I feel like he's trapped by something he said or wants to say. Now he wants to clear it up. Whatever it is needs to be readdressed. Looks like a professional relationship ship that is teetering into pleasure, but he's not sure.
