Hi everyone! I'm new to this forum, so I offer my apologies in advance if I break any rules or repost something.I'm relatively new to reading synastry and I understand the technical parts of it okay. But how do you pick out which aspects are the most powerful and which ones aren't? For example, here's a synastry between me and current crush (I'm the left hand column): Mercury Opposition Mars 1°34' -97 Mercury Opposition Uranus 2°39' -58 Mercury Trine Pluto 2°55' 38 Venus Trine Mercury 0°44' 120 Venus Opposition Jupiter 3°40' -52 Mars Opposition Saturn 1°57' -60 Jupiter Conjunction Jupiter 1°19' 116 Saturn Trine Mercury 2°54' 50 Saturn Sextile Jupiter 1°30' 46 Uranus Conjunction Venus 3°26' 88 Uranus Conjunction Mars 0°42' 115 Uranus Conjunction Uranus 0°24' 96 Uranus Sextile Pluto 0°40' 44 Neptune Conjunction Neptune 0°03' 88 Pluto Sextile Venus 0°48' 55 Pluto Conjunction Pluto 3°34' 51 There's so much activity between all the planets that I can't pick out what aspects to pay attention to and which ones not to. We have a Mars/Saturn aspect which is supposed to be incredibly destructive, but would the mars/uranus or venus/mercury aspects smooth that over? How do you tell if some aspects will impact other ones? I appreciate help from anyone who answers! Thanks! IP: Logged |

The general way of telling which aspects are most powerful is by looking at how tight or wide they are. The smaller the orb for the aspect, the more of an impact it has on a relationship. I personally don't know of any set way of knowing which aspects help to smooth over other ones. Each aspect is different and means something different to the relationship. A single negative aspect could cover an array of negative attributes. A single positive aspect could cover an array of positive attributes. Some of the pieces of either array could overlap and help to mitigate one another. Or you could just feel both the negative and positive attributes, just at different times or due to different reasons. However, a single positive aspect generally can't mitigate a single negative aspect. Another thing to consider is that no aspect is truly negative. Negative aspects are often better looked at as challenges that the two people involved in the relationship will have to overcome in order to strengthen their bond. For this reason, it can be good to have some challenging aspects alongside the positive ones. Of course, a relationship with all negative aspects probably won't last very long unless there is a lot of Saturn involved simply because both people will likely be unwilling to go through all of the challenges they're faced with during the relationship. It really comes down to balance, compromise, and the natures of the two individuals involved. The aspects that tend to impact one another are generally those that involve the same planets. For example, your Mercury is Opposite his Mars. Your Mercury is also Trine his Pluto. These aspects will both deal with your intellect and how it is perceived and expressed in this relationship and/or communication (which seems like it will be intense). IP: Logged |
