there seems to be a long distance message/news (alternative: news about a trip) that involves an ending. Maybe a cancellation. However, the ending cards (quite in your face, as a matter of fact) are at the beginning so if an ending already took place, it could be a reconnection, especially since clover is in the letter (usually something pleasant). alternatively, clover can mean "surprise", in this case, a surprise message =news.
