So my friend asked me to do a reading regarding the future of her admittedly rocky relationship. She said they've been fighting everyday and she's been staying up all night crying and worrying about the relationship.

In MY opinion I think they'll be breaking up soon. The 5 of Wands & 9 of Swords describe the fighting and all-night crying and worrying she's been doing while Death and the sh*tty cards surrounding it makes me personally assume that the relationship is dying and subsequently so is the love they once had for each other.

Should I tell her just that or not? Am I too pessimistic?

This would initally suggest a lot fear and a battle of wills because there is way, way too much pressure to make the other person their "ideal" and not let love just flow naturally -- Death is about endings, yes, but more about transitions and changes that are much needed for karmic growth. The Lovers is not always about relationships but coming into one own's "perfect state" or reaching a level of self-love and karmic development. Both reversed say egos are clashing, and they aren't letting things unfold the way the Universe intended.
