It's so odd to hear him being nice regarding me

He's coming to terms with his own demons, making his peace and owning his stuff. Don't get your expectations up, but be grateful for the progress, because his communication with your daughter (no matter how infrequent) will stay with her forever.

I am grateful! It is hard not go get my hopes up, even without being sure of what it is that I really want

My very best advice (which I wouldn't proffer unless I felt somehow that you were asking): Let him be a part of your past outside your co-parenting obligations. Too much water has run under this bridge to try to rewrite history. You'll all be better for letting it go.

It wasn't just "side-eyes", he practically DOTED on me the entire meeting! Asked me to ride with him from the first restaurant (which was too busy) to the second with my publisher right there. Rushed to stay by my side, open doors, grab trays & silverware. Insisted on sitting beside me at the restaurant. Picked up my check, did not pick up my publishers.

I know my publisher had to have been thinking, "What the H....?!"

I'm a little shellshocked! Can you pick up on anything either of them was feeling or thinking?

I can exchange, of course!

I feel that your publisher definitely noticed, but I don't think he/she was bothered, but it feels that it was something they couldn't help but notice. It almost feels like they were surprised and slightly entertained by it all...

& it feels like he was just so concerned with looking after you that he wasn't really concerned with what anyone else was thinking or seeing. I am seeing him using his mercurian energies to hone in on your needs, it feels like he wanted to keep you on an energetic pillow, like a princess.
