Hello all!

Lordy! I CANNOT seem to catch a break. Just when things start to look better, a late payment shows up on my credit report JUST BEFORE I HAVE TO LOOK FOR A NEW PLACE! I have spent the past year watching my credit and rebuilding it and I was successful in doing so. I have to move out of state due to a job offer and I am going there this weekend to find a place to live. I have had my eye on one apartment complex specifically, but because of the recent "30 day late" reporting to my credit and my score consequently dropping almost 60 points, my credit score is below the requirement! I am so discouraged.

To make a long story short, I have been in contact with the credit card company because they provided me with misinformation about how to submit the payment which is why it was late. I am hoping they will adjust how they are reporting my account to the credit bureaus, but even if they do they might not do it by the time I need to apply for the apartment.

Can ANYONE pull just a few cards to see if I will end up getting this apartment???

Thank you so much!!

Will the bank rectify the issue to your liking?

10 of swords / page of coins and knight of swords.

Send them strongly worded emails (need all this in writing) and then hound them by calling- and then send other emails saying you called and want X remedy as they gave you wrong information. You will need to 'hover' to get this rectified.

Will you get that apt?

The devil/ 6 of swords/ death

No, sorry. Shows you searching and needing to travel over water to one place.

Thank you for pulling for me!!!! I truly appreciate it!

Regarding Chase removing the reporting: I suppose that is good news!

But DAM about the apartment. UGH!!! This is so frustrating to work so hard to get my credit to a certain point and have this happen!!!! I am so extremely discouraged.

There will be other places which will be just as good, if not better. Housing can be found, and it's not the end of the road. Try to keep positive (good food, and try to get some sunshine) and keep doing what you're doing. You'll get there.

Are you looking to buy a home or to rent a room in an apartment?

The best thing to do is to go on craiglist and look for shared room/house. Most of those request are looking for people to replace a roommate that has moved out and as long as you can pay the rent and bills (which you would split with the other roommates) you can start rebuilding your credit score. Otherwise looking to buy a home or rent an apartment with a broker or agnecy, they are going to look at your credit score and deny you immediately.

Look for apartments with people looking for roommates.

This is EXCELLENT advice. The only thing is that I have two dogs and a house full of furniture that is worth a lot. Sooo.... I am not sure. I would hate to have to get a roommate for the first time in over ten years over a credit company's mistake. I am no spring chicken. I am 34 years old. Lol. I just completed a phd and I am tired and ready to live! Lol.

BUT if it comes down to it, I will have to do what it takes.

Thank you for your advice!
