My q (sorry, a rather long winded one): My ex, J, tried to contact me recently - I took exception at his approach and we exchanged harsh words. I then sent him a conciliatory email. Will he respond? And is it OK for me to start a friendly conversation with him, no ill effects I hope?

I don't like his vibe with regard to you: dismissive, presumptuous, somewhat haughty. Separations happen - and this feels like a separation - but most people move away from them with a balanced sense of appreciation for the 'lessons learned', etc... that I don't feel from him.

Feels like he manipulated you, and is rather proud of it.

No, I don't think you "messed things up" at all. Feels like the time and distance will be a great source of reflection, actually - necessary defining.

No longterm ill effects, no. Feels like your response put him in his place in a perfectly appropriate way: he felt a reasonable sense of embarrassment for his overture, but will wait for you to extend the branch of friendship.

Words of warning: Be both clear and consistent that friendship is your goal if that is what you desire. I sense that there's a bit of the opportunist to this fellow; a sort of "give him an inch, he'll take you a mile" sort of thing (not in a predatory way, but sort of in a way lacking forethought).

I think there will be exchanges and further discussions on this proposal. However the 5S makes me think not everything will go your way. I think this proposal may be put to rest also the JS is looking forward to the future, for me this will get left behind. The King can represent documents and the 4 makes me think putting them to rest. The 4C makes me think something creative however will come out of this.

So I pulled 3 more cards to see what happens after this and got 8H, AD, 2H so I think you will have success with something new.

Not this proposal(or at least you wont get everything you want), but looks to be there will be some success after this, perhaps new discussions or invitation as aces also indicate new beginnings and diamonds can be communication. 2H indicate perhaps the foundation and FoD having good relation.

Let me know how that goes

This energy, I like. She'll be critical, but in a constructive, growth-driven way. It feels like there will be growing pains (because you're both smart, opinionated and strong-willed), but in a way that ultimately tests and expands your bounds (in a good way) and hers, as well.
