I am not sure he misses you like that he would be tortured by the thought of you; instead I think he thinks of you, yes, and very fondly; maybe even a little secretly.
He also of course feels the distance between you, and while he does not like it, he also has the hope for a later coming together and reconnection and healing and that anticipating makes him feel secure and happy I think.

I would say to expand something. and this would probably be related to his work. maybe he is looking for an apartment closer to his job, or the reason is to detach from his family, have his little place where he can be alone with himself and focus much better on work matters. Maybe he is looking for a change in his job, a transformation, and wants to do it the right way, and the right way for him is finding a solitary place where he can reflect on everything before making any move or any important decision.

Yes, sounds completely spot on!

I am pretty sure he looks for that appartment because of the rehearsals for the new role (physically very demanding) start soon.
It just still surprised me, as from the theatre to his hometown is just a 30-45 minutes drive, and a major reason for accepting that role seemed to me being able to drive home after every performance.

But he probably needs that to focus or something (though he didn`t before, but sometimes workmethods change).

LOL I had to laugh, seeing the first card, as this is an absolutely "home" card for me. Yes you will be at home, or somewhere where you will feel home. The hangout will be quite good I think, stable passion with the 4 of wands, but all in all it might be a bit on the calm side, with the King and 7 of pentacles, might even look like too normal at the surface, like not much is happening, but the reason is that he will be very interested in making things work out, so he will be patient and letting things unfold slowly. But underneath is there is a true loving connection.

To me it looks warm and comfortable, loving in a quiet way and just pretty nice.

And yes, LOL, funny enough his place now IS closer to me. From his hometown to the location it`s 67 kilometres (I am a nerd, I looked it up .lol), and from MY home to the location it`s 39 kilometres.

However not a direct route across my hometown. In fact those three places are making a triangle on the map.

It`s coincidence though. lol

It just happens to be where his next job is. though it just occurred to me that it was in THAT city that he first approached me during a solo concert of his.

In fact this city has held quite some unforeseen eyeopening experiences for me in the past, actually I used to call it "city of destiny" fort that reason. lol Nothing extraordinary about the city, just some of the things happening ther, nothing big, just interesting though. lol
