Something on his wishes and feelings he wanted to share with you. Feels more like a hopes and dreams he had in him that he wanted to share with you but be not so upfront but in the same time to share his thoughts with you.
He felt safe in a way to share this with you. It gave him comfort in some way to be open in this way with you.

My impression is that she actually was using an excuse and was sneaking about it a little (the 7 of swords) because she wanted to talk to you (3 of wands). from the spread I get the feeling she appreciates you or maybe just recently realized that you are a real asset (the judgement card as reevaluating), and it seems like she wants to connect to you more strongly, maybe getting to know you better and simply communicate with you.

Does that make any sense at all?

Well she didnt seem like she wanted to talk to me.. she came in and went out but I had a feeling like she was in a way not spying but checking up on me?

Thanks, yes, I had a feeling, even though it was a sad song actually, but it seemed to convey a lot of yearning to change (his?) life, to fill an empty space, learning to fly again and leaving behind any kind of lies.

Well that is actually what the words he sang were about, at least those I understood. lol

Yes, checking up on you sneakily could be the JUdgement/ 7 of swords-combo.

However with 3 of wands and 6 of wands, I get a good vibe. Maybe she was checking up on you and then very pleased with whatever you were doing, as both cards are very creative, strong, dynamic, straightforward, successful cards.

It seems he is trying to keep in control and master his own thoughts and even emotions. Maybe he is also not sure what to say or how to say it or even what to think about something, and this has resulted in him withdrawing into himself and pondering about life. He seems to feel melancholic about (seemingly) lost chances too, but does not see the good that is offered to him, the hand that is reaching out to him (maybe you or your friendship?). He seems deeply in thoughts and reevaluating his life and his choices and for that time he does not want to communicate freely with anyone but keeps things very tight to his chest and only lets out what has passed the test of being "reasonable" and not shaking his feelings of "I am in control of my life and emotions"

He was feeling an unhappy feeling with his marriage that time and wanted to feel like a free person in a sense of wanting to not look at the ring as a reminder of something not going right. He felt some constraint and he needed to not feel bound in some way that night.
I get a sense of just wanting to feel more free.
The ring reminded him of something not so good happening in recent past.

Yes, makes a lot of sense, esp. if you combine it with the content of the song he was singing.

he`s seemed rather unhappy for quite some time now to be honest, or let`s ay the only time he seemed really relaxed was when he was working, almost seemed like an escape of a less-than-ideal-at-home-situation.

So yes makes a lot of sense.
