From what is laid out I don't feel you're going to hear from him anytime soon or at least in the next months time. It looks like he needs time away from this to figure things out on his own. If this is a romantic connection I would say he still has feelings for you and the connection he has with you still matters to him. Was he the one to cut things off? He knows you're waiting for him but doesn't want to come to terms with it as he doesn't know how.

Perhaps one of you were thinking more about a long term more serious relationship and it was going in that direction for a while but he had serious doubts about it. With the death card in the middle it shows how things have changed for him and how he sees the relationship. He does know how you're feeling and that he failed to make you happy, because of this he feels a certain stress as he knows he's hurt you.

I see that you will be meeting someone that strikes your interest. He starts off as a friend, and it turns into something more.
