I did a spread for your first question. I pulled 7 cards for more insights.

Here it is :

The first thing that pops up in the spread is you ( Woman) in the central place of this spread.
This shows me that things are revolving around you in this connection rather than around him, you being the central figure.
It looks like he is working alongside with you on your growth as a person. I don't see romantic cards in the spread but I see someone who helps you push ahead. Stars and Stork speak of recognition, recognition of a talent or personal qualities, M. recognizes that and is pushing you towards further development. Mountain and House shows me that he is trying to get you out of your comfort zone and get you into uncharted territory , which you always had problem with ( Mountain). Sun and Anchor shows me that this person is a real blessing for you, because he is shining a light upon you and have a stabilizing effect upon you. I'd venture to say this person has a very positive influence in your life and they are meant to stay with you for awhile ( Anchor). They have your best interest at heart.

Going to address balances first.

There seems to be a desire to balance between two paths of here. A young gentle romance, or a more independent path free from the influence of another. There is a lot going on in the background, but this person is carefully deciding which option is more suitable.

I feel that M is under the impression that what you're going through is something M has been through before. It's almost as if there is a strong call of self reflection to be had here. M has the opportunity to be that support M did not have when M was going through these problems. The situations could be reversed, where it's you that feels this way and M needs support, but I'm guessing it's M that's here as support.

One person is going through a hard time right now. Family problems? Monetary worries? I feel like it's a situation that this person cannot control. M seems to be the stabilizing figure in this equation. It seems M wants to help you regain your footing and confidence in self.

The general read seems to be that one of you, I'm guessing you, is going through a tough situation. M feels a strong sense of responsibility to help you out through these dark times. M's purpose is to help you regain your independence and strength of self. I don't necessarily see romance here, but the soft perspective of a gentle person. I feel maybe this person was wronged, taken advantage of. There is a certain allure of this person, but now doesn't seem to be the time to be thinking of such things (relations).
