Well based on these cards....
This guy was a player. Even in the past, there was no real commitment or future/stability. That’s also what lead to it ending, he isn’t emotionally mature or into stability or commitment/loyalty, he doesn’t want a real committed relationship.
The second spread of cards is showing he wants to move on but you are really hoping and wishing for something, probably a reconciliation.
If anything is going to happen between you, those cards are saying it will just be sex.
Looks like this relationship was more karmic I’m nature which means it was meant for growth and to teach you lessson.

Honestly I dont feel there’s much more to say....
Knight of cups R is showing someone who’s all talk and smoke and mirrors. He wasn’t sincere with you and this type of character is the textbook player type.
4 of wands R is showing a lack of stability or commitment, doesn’t see a future etc. So even though you lived together for years, that didn’t really mean much.....
What lead to it ending the cards are obvious; king of pents is someone loyal, stable, committed, wants a long term partnership.
King of cups is someone very emotionally mature. The fact these are in the why it ended part and contrasting the how it was in the past, they reaffirm what I’m saying.

You shouldn’t spend anymore energy on this, it’s as simple as this guy is very manipulative, emotionally immature, and isn’t into commitment or stability or settling down. This isn’t your fault, this is something he needs to deal with himself.
