Basically, I’m trying to understand the overall theme for this relationship, like strengths, weaknesses, and/or themes. Any insight is greatly appreciated. I’m the inner circle.

The two of you have Mercury square Pluto between you. This tends to make one or both distrust the other or at least be suspicious of them.

Your sun conjuncting his moon is great for compatibility. Mercury sextile venus..humor and expression of feelings comes easy...but then there's that Mercury square pluto..

The two of you share good aspects between the Sun and Jupiter, which usually makes for a "I'm happy to see you relationship." You smile when you see them.
