First I wanted to explain my situation with a certain someone. I've asked about him before and I got several answers. Long story short, the conclusion was that my feelings for him are unrequited and will go nowhere. Since then, I stopped expecting anything from him and I never asked about him again. (either my tarot deck or others').

The thing is however, the situation recently developed into a surprising turn. He called me few days back, somewhat drunk and he admitted how much he regretted the way he handled my confession and that he didn't know what to do because he likes me a lot and doesn't want to lose me. I was really surprised because everything in tarot readings I've done on him hinted at his total disinterest in me.

Back when I first admitted my non-platonic feelings for him, he gently turned me down and said that although he liked me a lot, he had no intention of committing to me. I accepted that and we moved on from that. We remained purely friends since then and I'm totally okay with that. I didn't want to lose him and I would rather we stay friends than completely disappear from each other's lives.

Now I'm confused. So I reached out to my tarot deck for some guidance/illumination on the situation. I asked about his current feelings for me and I got THE HERMIT and FOUR OF WANDS as clarification. This didn't clear up things for me as I hoped because I don't think of the hermit as a romantic card. I see it as someone pulling away or distancing themselves to reflect on themselves. Which doesn't correlate with his behavior. Last night, he called me several times and texted me the whole day, all out of his own will. I didn't even initiate anything or pressured him to contact me.

I honestly don't know what's going on anymore. I want us to remain in each other's lives because he feels like a soulmate to me and it's a rare for me to find such a like-minded person who understands me at core level.

Ace of Wands present energy - he's hopeful for your heart probably but intimacy could be the true reason. Does he feel more as though he would be loving or FWB?
Yes, The Hermit could be a romantic guy. Example. Theres4an older film St Elmo's Fire

I called him and I decided that we will only remain friends. I didn't feel comfortable making us more than that. I feel like he is too confused to understand what he wants and I can't invest myself in someone who might or might NOT commit to me.
