Hi I haven't read any of these books yet, but I was browsing around the internet and found these books that look like they have great reviews!! They also have a description.

Astrology for the Soul-By Jan Spiller
This is my all-time favorite astrology book about my favorite piece of the chart: the Moon's Nodes, which have to do with karma and past lives, and indicate your most karmically appropriate direction in this lifetime. This book is enlightening on many levels and gives you a unique perspective on your soul's pattern that really helps everything make sense.

Best of all, you don't even need to know how to read charts to understand this book. All the North Node placements are in a table in the front of the book. And if you do read charts, you can look up the Node's house placement by house as well as by sign, for more information. This gives you an idea of the soul's direction in the chart, and which energies benefit the person on this level.

The inner Sky-By Steven Forrest
"The Ram. Horns down, charging. Fierce. Unyielding. Will the Ram crack his skull? He doesn't care. Nothing can intimidate him. Nothing can force him to swerve. Victory-- or self destruction in the effort to attain it: two destinies. One will claim him."

If you like this very descriptive, provocative, and sensual passage, you'll like The Inner Sky. It reads like a movie trailer at times, but it does have lots of good information that helps you get a "feel" for astrology. There's a wonderful section on just what astrology is and what it can tell us. A good introduction to the basics of chart interpretation. He approaches astrology as a foreign language, which I really like. Good for you if you're looking for concepts rather than details.

The Spiritual Approach to Astrology-By Myrna Lofthus
This book is for you if you want to know more "nitty-gritty" information about the chart. There are good descriptions of the 12 signs, houses, and 10 planets. She shows you how a chart is set up and how the planets move around the sky. She gives good, positive descriptions of planetary energy in each sign, and of aspects between planets.

I really like her section on the phases of the Moon and the Part of Fortune. She helped me understand how the two are related.

Astrology for Lovers- By Liz Greene
Astrology for Lovers by Liz Greene
This book is great fun. It gives you a brief introduction to how astrology shows one's psychology, what is your rising sign and how to find it, and then launches you into the four elements and the signs representing them. Fabulous stuff. And a fun read!

Not too much for beginners, and not too fluffy for seasoned astrologers. She puts forth an interesting idea of elemental affinities-- that Fire signs and Earth signs are drawn to each other, as well as Air and Water. The traditional pairings are Fire with Air and Earth with Water.

hi

i've got "Astrology for the Soul" but i think i'm the only one who finds it a bit boring

Martin Schulman's "Karmic Astrology - The Moon's Nodes and Reincarnation" is well-written and to the point

here's the back cover of "Astrological Revelations - Changing Your Life and Recharting Your Destiny" by John Willner (An Edgar Cayce Guide)

Discover

*The difference between your Physical Birth and your Soul Birth

*What astrological information is stored within your body

*How cosmic patterns trigger physical and mental responses

*Where your soul came from prior to birth - and where it will go after death

etc.

it also includes Edgar Cayce's take on the twelve houses
very different from the usual astrology book

I saw a book at the mall today in Hot Topic I was tempted to buy, but I am really thrifty sometimes...it was called "Born on a Rotten Day". Has anyone read it?

No, but what a hilarious title!

These first 3 are considered classics, definitely in a class of their own. I have found them very useful, and their delineations and descriptions are excellent:

"Planets in Transit" - Robert Hand (Whitford Press)

"Planets in Love" - Robert Townley (Para Research)

"Planets in Aspect" - Robert Pelletier (Whitford Press)

*** note that you can find 'samples' of these astrologers' writing through Astro.com. ***

"Astrology and Past Lives" - Mary Devlin (Para Research). Great addition to past life astro-books. Research via hypnosis and fact-checking.

"The Mars Book" - Donna Van Troen (Weiser)
A good closer look at the Red, energetic planet. Alternative viewpoint. Interesting Mars analysis for love, luck, and re-locating (decent City Mars index).

A couple of my favorites:

"Secrets from a Stargazer's Notebook" by Debbi Kempton-Smith. It's a fun and funny book with surprising insights, written in the style of Linda Goodman. My astrology teacher would have called this 'cook book astrology,' but personally I learned a lot from it. It's so readable, perfect for a beginner, and still fun for someone more advanced. Paperback, availabe in most bookstores I'm sure. My friends and I just call it 'the purple book.'

Anything by Stephen Arroyo.
