I tolk a bath tonight with candles and incense. I went into my box of herbs and just picked the ones that 'felt' right at the moment. I can't find my herbal book right now and I was wondering if anyone knew offhand the meanings of the herbs I picked?

Patchouli leaves
Jasmin flowers
Anise seed

Any ideas until I can hunt down my book or find some definitions in one of my other books?

This is what I've found so far:

Anise: Magical uses include stuffing anise seed into a small pillow to help remove nightmares. It is used in protection and meditation incenses. Combined with bay leaves it can be used in a purification bath. Anise can also be used to call forth spirits to aid in magickal procedures. Hanging anise from your bedpost will restore lost youth.

Anise will bring up, in some, hidden fears, allowing a person a chance to release guilt and ease the sting of criticism. Anise is useful in changing impulses in withdrawn individuals allowing them to feel protected in becoming extroverted.

I have Scott Cunningham's herb book at home. I'll try to remember to take a look in it for you...

Thank you hopeful! I know I have that book somewhere and I couldn't remember the title!! I have the cover image in my head now. Wonder where it went to! I have to get organized.

Cat - Thank you! That's a nice site! I found this:

Jasmine- Love, Money, Prophetic Dreams
Patchoulie - Money, Fertility, Lust

That's pretty helpful considering I pulled them by 'feel'

Thank you again!

Great site Cat!

Amber - here's a brief summary from Cunningham:

anise - for protection, purification, youth

Used in purification baths, especially with bay leaves - used to call forth spirits to aid in magical operations

jasmine - love, money, prophetic dreams

The flowers will draw wealth if carried, burned or worn. Will also cause prophetic dreams if burned in the bedroom, and the flowers are smelled to induce sleep

patchouly - money, fertility, lust

It smells like rich earth and is used in money and prosperity mixtures and spells. Also, is added to baths to attract people and to promote lust.

Thank you, Hopeful! That's an interesting combination of herbs I picked there. I think the Anise and Jasmine were mote instinctive and the Patchouli was biased on my part. I *LOVE* patchouli despite all the people that hate it! I think it smells wonnnnnnderful!

Amber - I thought that was an interesting mix! I like patchouli also. Sometimes, I meditate with patchouli or with amethyst. I've heard dragon's blood is also good for meditation. Have you tried it?

I don't think I have tried it! I'll have to see if I have the herb. I know I have it in liquid form for writing for some spells... but I can't recall if I have it in another form. I'll look though because I'd love to try it!

I love patchouli too. I haven't worn it in years, but when I catch a whiff, I feel such a sense of intrigue and stimulation.
